What are the responsibilities and job description for the Chief Pricing Actuary position at Argo Group?
The Chief Pricing Actuary reports to the SVP, Chief Actuary. This hybrid role leads pricing in the US for Argo Group and will be aligned to our New York office. The ideal candidate will provide guidance and insightful leadership to the US pricing team and define and execute the Argo US pricing strategy, including:
- Increase active portfolio management to drive growth in underwriting income.
- Rate change reporting.
- Predictive analytics and models.
- Profitability reviews.
- Rating tools/account pricing.
- Portfolio Management.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics or Statistics or related field of study.
- ACAS or 5 exams in current pursuit of ACAS.
- 12 years of actuarial experience in multiple lines of commercial E&S products; casualty lines focus preferred.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to convey technical concepts to management and other functional areas.
- Ability to interact and work within a team environment and approach actuarial work as a collaborative product.
- Ability to manage concurrent projects.
- Proficient PC skills developed through extensive use of Windows and Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Access, Excel, Outlook, and Word).
- Proficiency with Snowflake/SQL, R Studio, Anaconda/Python, PowerBI.
- Broad overall knowledge of insurance.
- Experience with Management Liability a plus and familiarity with ISO.
- Property catastrophe modeling familiarity.
- Expert knowledge of capital allocation and risk-adjusted return models.
- Polished and professional written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be detail-oriented and able to quickly evaluate the accuracy of information.
