Argo Group is seeking a Database Administrator - Microsoft SQL to be an integral part of our database and applications integration efforts in our San Antonio office. This role will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and administering databases, including base definition, structure, documentation. This role will liaise with application support teams and developers to ensure databases are architected and tuned for optimal performance and availability.
Essential Functions:
- Supports and maintains Microsoft SQL, MySQL, No SQL databases.
- Conducts system tuning, performance monitoring, Data Base Security administration, Encryption, Data Masking, and database maintenance.
- Assists with application, developer, and user support.
- Provide technical support and maintain database structure and architecture.
- Perform tests and evaluations regularly to ensure data security, privacy, and integrity.
- Monitory database performance, implement changes, and apply new patches and versions when required.
- Implement and manage Connections with external data sources.
- Plan and execute Database lifecycle management efforts.
Qualifications:
- 5 years of relevant experience
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or equivalent work experience
- Excellent knowledge of data backup, recovery, security, performance, maintenance, and integrity
- Writes complex SQL and PL/SQL functions, procedures, packages, and triggers.
- Creates tables and views.
- Experience tuning SQL, My SQL, No SQL, AWS RDS, Azure SQL
- Experience with enterprise SQL database clustering
- Experience with complex SQL performance tuning
- Demonstrated ability to work from complex requirement documents.
- Experience managing database and code in a version-controlled environment.
- Experience adhering to coding standards.
- Experience creating and modifying database designs/models.
- Experience creating partitioned tables.
- Experience performing database administration tasks such as patching, creating users, granting privileges, etc.
- Experience as an ETL developer automating the loading and transfer of large amounts of data from complex applications and data warehouses.
- Experience working in a hybrid support model with onshore and offshore support teams.
- Experience with Microsoft SQL and Oracle licensing
- Experience with Oracle applications
- Experience with Microsoft SQL performance tuning and monitoring tools.
Experience:
- Microsoft SQL, - minimum of 5 years preferred
- MySQL, NoSQL,
- Database Administration: minimum of 5 years preferred
- Bitbucket or Git Product Environments a plus
- Microsoft Azure SQL, Amazon RDS a plus
