A Brief Overview
We are looking for a highly capable Director of General Liability Bodily Injury Claims to join our team and work from any of our offices. We work together in the office five days a week in order to strengthen our culture, build team connections, and drive profitability. This role will supervise a team of General Liability Bodily Injury Claims Adjusters and contribute to providing superb results for our clients.
How You Will Make an Impact:
- Successfully supervise and provide training, mentoring, and technical oversight to a team of General Liability Bodily Injury adjusters. The team primarily consists of individuals with advance knowledge and experience that adjudicate claims with moderate to large loss reserves and impact to our bottom line. Most of the claims this team handles have a broad set of issues that are typically difficult. Management of the team includes:
- Supporting the professional claims selection process to hire and retain claims professionals that consistently demonstrate appropriate technical expertise, maturity and a professional commitment to excellence and customer service.
- Managing expenditures for the team to budget / plan.
- Working closely with claims adjusters and outside counsel to ensure cost-effective and appropriate litigation management strategies are in place that will lead to the best overall outcome.
- Providing advice and oversight into claim disposition strategies.
- Providing direction, leadership and training.
- Ensuring performance objectives and metrics are in place and being met to support and meet department goals.
Core qualifications and requirements for this position include:
- Must have good business acumen (i.e. understand how an insurance company works and makes money, including how this role impacts both Argo Group and our customers’ ability to be profitable).
- A deep knowledge of adjudicating environmental claims through:
- A minimum of seven years’ experience adjudicating General Liability Bodily Injury claims with exposure of $100,000 or more.
- A minimum of five years' in a Claims Supervisory capacity managing adjusters.
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university or two or more industry designations are required.
- New York General Adjusting License is required to adjudicate first party claims.
- Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to build lasting relationships.

- Strong claim negotiation skills a must.
- Must possess a strong customer focus.
- Effective time management skills and ability to prioritize workload while handling multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Ability to articulate the financial value of your work at multiple responsibility levels inside our clients’ business which may include CEO.
- Must work independently and demonstrate the ability to exercise sound judgment.
- Demonstrates inner strength. Has the courage to do the right thing and demonstrates it on a daily basis.
- Intellectual curiosity. Consistently considers all options and is not governed by conventional thinking.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite and other business-related software.
- Polished and professional written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to read and write English fluently is required.
