A Brief Overview
We are looking for a highly capable SIU Investigator to join our team and work from our New York, Chicago, Omaha, Richmond (VA), Rockwood (PA) or San Antonio office. This position reports to the AVP, SIU & Compliance who is located in New York, NY. As an SIU Investigator, you will be tasked with the identification, investigation, and deterrence of instances of fraud in both claims and underwriting for a multi-line, commercial carrier.
How You Will Make an Impact:
- Working under limited technical direction, applies tried and tested investigative methodology and strategies to identify and investigate suspected instances of insurance fraud in both claims and underwriting.
- Solving difficult problems that require an understanding of a broader set of issues.
- Applies knowledge of P&C, Workers’ Compensation and other commercial insurance industry services and processes in furtherance of an investigation.
- Applies knowledge of local and federal laws as it relates to insurance fraud investigations.
- Manages investigative vendors to conduct field and surveillance efforts.
- Prepares and presents detailed & comprehensive verbal and written reports of the investigation.
- Work with law enforcement and other state agencies in support of criminal investigations.
- Effectively communicates with SIU team on general observations and provides ongoing feedback on trends and developments.
- Ensure the confidentiality and security of sensitive information throughout the investigative process.
- May serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on specific matters to either the claims or underwriting teams through proven skill or training.
- Assists with fraud awareness training for the claims and underwriting staff.
What We Need:
- Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice or related field from an accredited university required. Two or more related designations (CIFI, FCLS, CFE) or four additional years of related experience beyond the minimum experience required above may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
- An advanced knowledge of SIU typically achieved through a minimum of five years' investigative experience in the private sector.
- Must have good business acumen (i.e. understand how an insurance company works and makes money, including how this role impacts both Argo Group and our customers’ ability to be profitable).
- Ability to regularly exercise discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance. This role primarily faces problems and issues that are difficult and require an understanding of a broader set of issues.
- Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to build lasting relationships.
- Exhibit natural and intellectual curiosity in order to consistently explore and consider all options and is not governed by conventional thinking.

- Must possess a strong customer focus.
- Effective time management skills and ability to prioritize workload while handling multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Ability to articulate the financial value of your work at multiple responsibility levels inside our clients’ business which may include CEO.

- Proficient in MS Office Suite and other business-related software.
- Uses listening and questioning techniques to effectively gather information from insureds and claimants
- Polished and professional written and verbal communication skills. Presents information clearly, concisely, and accurately.
- Ability to effectively network, build and maintain relationships, and establish appropriate visibility with business partner
- The ability to read and write English fluently is required.
- Must demonstrate a desire for continued professional development through continuing education and self-development opportunities.
