The Senior Warehouse Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of warehouse operations on a larger scale, ensuring the effective and efficient management of multiple warehouse facilities or a high-volume warehouse operation. This role involves strategic planning, leadership, and continuous improvement initiatives to optimize operational performance, customer satisfaction, and profitability. The Senior Warehouse Operations Manager collaborates closely with senior management to align warehouse operations with broader business objectives. This position requires a deep understanding of warehouse management, strategic planning, and team leadership. Ongoing professional development, leadership training, and performance incentives are essential for attracting and retaining this role and the members of the team.

 

Expectations: 

  • Manage and lead warehouse operations to ensure efficiency, productivity, and quality to achieve company goals and performance targets.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to improve operational efficiency, inventory management, and customer service.
  • Foster high standards of safety, cleanliness, and organization within the warehouse.
  • Ensure the team provides timely and accurate shipping and receiving of products.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as Finance, Technology and Partner Success, to ensure seamless operations, and coordinate alignment to achieve the business’s goals.
  • Oversee budget and resource allocation to optimize cost-efficiency.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Oversight:

  • Oversee daily warehouse operations of a high-volume warehouse or multiple warehouses, including order fulfillment, shipping, receiving, and inventory management.
  • Develop, implement and monitor operational policies and procedures to enhance productivity and accuracy, and minimize waste.
  • Complete ownership for fulfillment, shipping, receiving, and inventory management processes within the contractual timeline indicated in our Service Level Agreement
  • Unload trucks and containers, verify shipment contents, and accurately document received items.
  • Occasionally pick-up or deliver product using a company vehicle (car van or 26’ box truck).
  • Implement and improve warehouse processes and workflows.


Strategic Planning:

  • Develop and execute long-term strategic plans to optimize warehouse operations.
  • Analyze operational data to identify trends, areas for improvement, and growth opportunities.
  • Implement best practices and innovative solutions to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Oversee the organization with carriers and logistics partners for timely pick-up and delivery. 
  • Monitor shipping costs and optimize shipping methods by establishing automated business rules. 


Leadership and Staff Development:

  • Recruit, hire, retain, lead, mentor, and develop warehouse teams.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide feedback to warehouse staff.
  • Identify training needs and implement training programs to improve skills and performance.
  • Develop work schedules and assign tasks to ensure adequate coverage.
  • Optimize resource allocation to minimize waste and maximize efficiency.
  • Ensure the team is properly trained in safety protocols on how to use warehouse equipment.


Safety and Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, company policies, conduct regular safety training.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Appropriately resolve to any reported safety hazards or equipment malfunctions.
  • Promote a culture of safety, teamwork, improvement, and accountability within the warehouse.


Inventory and Resource Management:

  • Take complete ownership of inventory control processes to ensure accuracy, availability and minimize shrinkage.
  • Manage resource allocation, including labor, equipment, and space utilization.
  • Optimize warehouse layout and organization to improve efficiency.
  • Schedule and conduct regular inventory count and audits.


Financial Management:

  • Develop and manage warehouse budgets and cost controls.
  • Monitor expenses and implement cost-control measures.
  • Identify opportunities to improve profitability and reduce operational costs.


Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work closely with logistics, procurement, and customer service teams to align operations with company objectives.
  • Communicate effectively with senior management and other departments to provide updates on warehouse performance.
  • Address and resolve operational issues that impact customer satisfaction and service levels.
  • Collaborate with other departments to streamline operations and improve customer satisfaction.

Qualifications:

  • Eligible to work in the country, and able to pass a background, and drug test.
  • 10 years of warehouse experience including receiving, picking, packing, kitting, inventory cycle counts, materials handling, batching and shipping.
  • Desire to work a standard (morning or afternoon) shift, yet willing to supplement hours by working overtime during evenings and/or weekends during peak shipping seasons.
  • Ability to lift and move (up to 50 lbs.), stand for extended periods, and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling and documenting warehouse transactions.
  • Experience supervising a team doing a multiple discipline. 
  • Customer service experience and enjoy interacting with people.
  • Commitment to safety procedures and maintaining a safe working environment.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills to collaborate effectively with colleagues.
  • Basic computer skills (Office 365) and familiarity with a warehouse management system (WMS).
  • Experience operating a forklift is a plus; certification may be required.
  • Valid driver’s license, CDL is a plus. 
  • Must be able to pass certification testing.
