A Brief Overview
We are looking for a highly capable Director of SIU & Compliance to join our team and work from any Argo Group office. We work together in the office five days a week in order to strengthen our culture, build team connections, and drive profitability. The position reports to The SVP of Claims, Legal, based in Chicago. This role will oversee the SIU State Compliance function for Argo US Claims and will also lead a team to assist in other key Shared Services functions.
The primary duties and responsibilities of the role are:
- Successfully supervise and provide training, mentoring, and technical oversight to a small team of SIU professionals. Management of the team includes:
- Ensuring performance objectives and metrics are in place and being met to support and meet department goals.
- Providing direction, leadership and training.
- Providing advice and oversight into insurance fraud strategies.
- Working closely with claims adjusters, SIU staff, and outside vendors, law enforcement, and other state agencies to identify insurance fraud and recover and claims expenditures fraudulently billed/claimed.
- Managing expenditures for the team to budget / plan.
- Supporting the selection process to hire and retain SIU professionals that consistently demonstrate appropriate technical expertise, maturity and a professional commitment to excellence and customer service.
- Using your extensive knowledge in investigations and compliance work with limited oversight under broad management direction, manage all SIU state compliance including all annual state filings.
- Responsible for coordination and tracking of SIU new hire training, SIU annual training and CA Fair Claims Act training. Lead in the development of training modules.
- Conducting detailed information gathering, analysis and investigation to find solutions to issues that are numerous and undefined and have a major impact on departmental results.
- Monitor the quality of SIU work performed by TPAs adjusting claims for US programs.
- Lead Argo licensing and continued education programs.
- Assist Argo Legal with State audit requests and partner in coordination or response to audits and inquires.
- Serve as subject matter expert for state compliance research and provide compliance related updates to leadership.
- Act as a subject matter expert for claims adjusters by answering questions regarding state compliance concerns.
- Oversee liaison function for US Claims on IT related matters and projects. This will not require IT skills, but excellent organization skills and a commitment to problem solving.
- Identifies issues and applies creative solutions which result in the best financial outcome.
Core qualifications and requirements for this position include:
- Must have good business acumen (i.e. understand how an insurance company works and makes money, including how this role impacts both Argo Group and our customers' ability to be profitable).
- A specialized knowledge of SIU typically achieved through:
- A minimum of seven years' experience managing the SIU function in a commercial claims environment.
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited university. Four additional years of related experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree.

The base salary range provided below is for hires in those geographic areas only and will be commensurate with candidate experience. Pay ranges for candidates in other locations may differ based on the cost of labor in that location. In addition to base salary, all employees are eligible for an annual bonus based on company and individual performance as well as a generous benefits package.
- Chicago and Los Angeles metro area Pay Range: $148,100 - $177,700
- New York City Pay Range: $161,800 - $194,200
