The Argonne Chinese After School Program at Argonne elementary school in the San Francisco Richmond District was founded and established by parents in 1999. The program provides the school community grades K-5 with an opportunity to learn the Chinese language (Mandarin) and culture.
About the job
The Argonne Chinese After School Program is currently seeking a part-time (MTThF 1:30-5:30 pm and W 12:30-5:30 pm) instructor who loves education and enjoys working with children in grades K-5. Instructors will take initiative in providing a safe and educational classroom environment that encourages students to explore, create and learn Mandarin Chinese and Chinese culture.
Salary: Starting at $25/hour, negotiable upon experience
Responsibilities:
- Plan and teach Mandarin using program guidelines and curriculum for students at different levels *
- Design and/or lead enrichment experiences that may include art projects, songs, games, and dances *
- Collaborate with other teachers in the program *
- Participate in cleaning and maintaining the facilities and equipment *
- Participate in yard duty responsibilities *
- Ensure the safety of youth during program *
Qualifications and skills:
- Dynamic, innovative, reliable and experienced educator *
- Have 3-5 years experience working with students ages from 5-12 year old *
- Must speak, read and write fluently in Chinese (Mandarin) *
- Must be able to write and teach simplified Chinese*
- Great team player and fast learner with positive energy and enthusiasm in teaching*
- Demonstrates creativity and resourcefulness *
- Demonstrates willingness to improve through professional development and training
- Demonstrates the ability to organize learning activities for students to develop and strengthen their knowledge of Chinese culture *
- Must clear Background Check and have a negative TB test*
- Must work in the July and during the SFUSD academic school year.

Pay: From $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 25 per week
