About the Job
The Advanced Mobility and Grid Integration Technology (AMAGIT) department, part of Argonne's TAPS division, is seeking an Electrical Engineer - EV Charging Systems Expert. This position will be based at Argonne's Smart Energy Plaza, home to the laboratory's EV Smart-Grid Interoperability Center, which focuses on integrating and managing EV charging, renewables, building systems, and energy storage.
Key Responsibilities:
- Aid project managers and lead researchers in evaluating and validating EV charging system equipment and related software.
- Investigate and develop solutions to create better standards through validation and iteration of charging system state-of-the-art.
- Assist in gathering data from charging systems, both on the vehicle and infrastructure ends of the process.
- Interface with ANL contractors on creating Statements of Work (SOWs) and assist in monitoring progress toward successful, timely deliverables.
Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you should have:
- Bachelor's & 5 yrs, Master's & 3 yrs or Doctorate & 0 yrs experience in a relevant field.
- Experience with power electronic systems, circuit protection schemes, and EV charging safety.
- Ability to work independently with safety awareness, confidence, and self-discipline.
- Familiarity with power transmission/distribution systems and expertise in designing test cases, conducting testing with low variability impacts, and analyzing test results to validate hardware and software components.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams.
- Technical writing ability and proficiency with standard document generation software.
