This person will work closely and report directly to the Plant Manager.

Responsibilities
- Responsible for the direction and management of all mechanical and electrical maintenance activities throughout the Plant.
- Organizes and oversees all preventative maintenance work as well as emergency repairs to equipment.
- Directly supervises the maintenance planner, maintenance engineer, automation engineer, electrical, mechanical, and warehouse supervisors.
- Indirectly responsible for all maintenance, electrical and warehouse hourly employees. Participate in selection of all department personnel, ensure proper orientation, onboarding and training occurs, ensure that coaching, feedback, recognition, counseling and discipline occurs with all maintenance personnel in accordance with company policies, practices and union contract.
- Responsible for staying within budgets set by the Plant Manager.
- Assists Plant Manager in Kiln reline organization, planning, and execution.
- Develop and implement successful training programs for all maintenance personnel.
- Works with the Engineering department on specifications and development of CAPEX projects.
- Work with closely vendors and contractors as appropriate, communicating and scheduling appropriately.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local labor, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Responsible for machinery reliability improvement.
- Responsible for maintenance planning, daily and yearly outages, and predictive maintenance.
- Responsible for safety program enforcement in areas of responsibility. Conduct and/or participate in investigations as appropriate. Enforce appropriate actions as necessary.
- Responsible for efficient warehouse/storeroom operations, inventory and spare parts.
- Plans, coordinates, and schedules work required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Must have bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or related field of study.
Requirements/Qualifications
- Must have 7-10 years of cement manufacturing experience, along with strong leadership skills.
- Ability to formulate decisions, make and support recommendations, prioritize work, communicate with multiple parties and handle multiple tasks.
- Strong leadership, communication, coaching, and interpersonal skills.
- Able to work effectively both individually and as part of a team.
- Able to ensure all maintenance personnel are properly oriented, coached, recognized, counseled and disciplined as appropriate.
- Ability to direct, motivate and coach direct reports as well as require the same of department supervisors.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, and ERP systems preferably SAP for work orders.
- Solid mechanical/control system skills and the ability to train others.
- Excellent work ethic - high standard of performance and productivity.
- Physical ability to:
- See and hear safety indicators and warnings.
- Walk long distances, climb ladders, stairs and stockpiles, stoop, crawl under and into enclosed spaces.
- Work in all weather conditions: heat, cold, wet, dry, dusty, and near hot kiln process.
- Walk on all types of surfaces (uneven and/or slippery ground).
- Climb and work at elevations of 100 ft.
- Drive vehicle to various plant sites and work locations; must be able to travel overnight (air/auto).
