General Summary
The Event Manager’s main function is to oversee the day-to-day operations of the venue. Primarily focusing on meeting the needs of the client/venue, solving problems, identifying needs and concerns from an operational perspective and ensuring that events are fully staffed. Develops effective working relationships and communicates timely and effectively to client and staff.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure and monitor the quality of event operations for venue.
- Plan, direct. train and evaluate the work of supervisors and team members.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all departments to maintain security of patrons and events run smoothly.
- Identify potential process improvements to include cost savings and increased revenue.
- Efficiently utilize scheduling software to create event schedules, schedule staff and monitor staffing levels
- Investigate and resolve event-related complaints in a professional manner ensuring customer satisfaction
- Monitor and enforce safety policies in accordance with the safety committee
- Oversee invoicing and reporting prior and after the event to ensure accuracy and compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Assist with New Hire Orientations for new team members
- Proactively communicate with all levels and work collaboratively with Corporate Argus; Human Resources, Accounting, Operations etc.
- The Manager will be working at other Argus facilities when not working at the priority venue as needed
- Will be required to learn ABI/TMSS and maintain trainings.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
- Equivalent work experience to satisfy the needs of the position.
- Demonstrate positive leadership qualities and strong interpersonal skills to aid in training new employees.
- Must be willing to take direction and lead by example.
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be computer literate and have working knowledge in Microsoft Word, Excel, Google Docs and email.
- ABI/TMSS Skill preferred but not required
- Must be able to respond to change in a positive and productive way.
- Must exhibit an emphasis on customer service.
- Demonstrate organization and attention to small yet critical details.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks.
- Excellent problem solving and negotiation skills.
- Must obtain and maintain Colorado Springs Guard License (within 90 days of employment)
Physical Demands of the Job
While performing the essential functions of the job, the employee constantly operates a computer and other office devices such telephones, copy machines, fax machines, etc; occasionally moves about inside the office to access storage areas, cabinets and office machinery; constantly moves about the arena and event sites before, during and after events to service clients and supervise staff; constantly communicates via telephone, email and in-person with others to exchange accurate information.
Psychological Demands
While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee is continuously asked to multi-task under time limits. Position requires constant attention to precise details and accuracy of specified standards including: following simple to complex (more than 3 steps) instructions, and concentration which frequently extends beyond 30 minutes at a time. Employees in this role will constantly be in leadership role; this requires directing others either verbally or in writing to complete tasks in prescribed time frame. This position also requires constant use of interpersonal skills including: ability to direct/motivate/inform staff and foster collaboration, being able to recognize and resolve conflicts, being able to openly communicate in writing and verbally with clients.
Working Conditions
The essential functions of this position are performed indoors. The noise level in the work environment can range from minimal to loud during events, depending on the incumbent’s location, and minimal during non-event times. Fast paced environment at venue during event days. Longer hours/days are necessary. Frequently required to work, evenings, weekends and holidays as scheduled.
