Independent Life Skills Trainer (ILST)
Wage: $22.00/hr, start part time and build up to possible full time (if desired)
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
a) Licensed healthcare professional with experience in providing functionally based assessments and skills training for individuals with disabilities; or
b) A Bachelor's degree and one year of experience working with individuals with disabilities; or
c) An Associate’s degree in social services or human relations area and two years’ experience working with individuals with disabilities; or
d) Individuals currently enrolled in a degree program directly related to but not limited to special education, occupational therapy, therapeutic recreation, and/or teaching with at least 3 years of experience providing services similar to ILST services; or
e) Individuals with 4 years direct care experience teaching or working with individuals with a brain injury or other cognitive disability either in a home setting, hospital setting or rehabilitation setting.

Our highly-qualified Independent Living Skills Specialists work in a client's home to develop and maintain a program that is designed to assist them with being able to independently sustain him/herself physically, emotionally, and economically in the community. As one of the only programs of this kind in the state of Colorado, we are passionate about helping people.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Assist client with independent living services that may include: assistance to an individual with self-care, medication supervision, task completion, skill building, interpersonal skill development, socialization, therapeutic recreation, sensory motor skills building, mobility, benefits coordination, resource coordination, household management.
2. Maintain client plan of care.
3. Must participate in appropriate staff meetings/trainings.
4. Must maintain confidentiality in all aspects of job performance.
5. Must comply with all applicable laws, regulations and standards in performance of job functions.
6. Performs other related functions as required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
1. Knowledge of the development of plans for client care and the ability to participate in them.
2. Ability to accept and utilize supervision.
3. Ability to recognize the needs and concerns of people, and to maintain constructive working relationships in dealing with them.
4. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Special Requirements:
1. Valid, current State driver's license.
2. Proof of personal vehicle insurance with the 100,000/300,000 liability limits on the vehicle driven for work
3. Access to a reliable automobile.
