2nd shift - Lathe Operator

Job Title: 2nd Shift Lathe Operator
Pay: $18-$22/hr (DOE) $2/hr Shift Premium
Shift: 2:30 pm to 12:30 am - 4 - 10 hour schedule

Key Responsibilities:

• Interpret work orders, blueprints, job specifications, and technical details to determine machining requirements.
• Safely lift, position, and secure workpieces using hoists, and ensure proper placement on the machine.
• Set up and adjust machine controls (lathes, mills, saws, grinders) according to technical specifications to ensure accurate machining.
• Operate machines safely and efficiently, monitoring for potential issues and making necessary adjustments to maintain optimal performance.
• Maintain compliance with all safety protocols, utilizing personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
• Move and position steel rolls on transport dollies, and safely operate a forklift when necessary.
• Maintain an active and safe working environment by walking and/or standing for extended periods throughout the shift.
• Perform routine housekeeping to maintain a clean, safe, and organized workspace.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Strong technical knowledge and the ability to achieve precision within specified dimensions and tolerances.
• Extensive experience with machine shop operations, shop math, reading blueprints, and using measuring instruments.
• Ability to interpret and understand complex job details, technical drawings, and written instructions.
• Proficient in operating various machine tools, power tools, and shop equipment.
• Skilled in identifying performance issues or discrepancies and making necessary adjustments to improve machine operation.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with coworkers, fostering positive working relationships.
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs and safely operate overhead hoists in a factory setting.
• Strong understanding of safety practices and the ability to apply them consistently in daily operations.
• Ability to stand and/or walk for long periods, as required by the nature of the work.
