BUYER / PLANNER
Must have previous purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment
Responsibilities
- Manage tactical supplier relationships & work to improve overall supplier performance.
- Plan & purchase of manufacturing items to avoid shutdowns or disruptions.
- Ensure JIT delivery of raw material, parts, products and services
- Monitor & communicate supplier performance for delivery, quality & cost management.
- Track ancillary supplier costs such as surcharges, inbound freight etc.
- Member of supplier audit team including scheduling and documenting the supplier audit.
- Facilitate solutions of unacceptable systematic supplier performance.
- Escalate and resolve supplier on time delivery issues
- Prepare & execute production schedules (daily & weekly) to meet customers demand and delivery goals.
- Negotiate, plan and issue PO's in support of prototype and production requirements.
- Coordinate timely disposition and corrective actions for non-conforming purchased product with cross functional teams
- Coordinate activities involved with procuring goods and services, such as raw materials, equipment, tools, parts, and supplies.
- Confer with vendors to obtain product or service information, such as price, availability, and delivery schedule.
- Investigate and assess potential new suppliers to determine fit
- Prepare bid specifications, receive bids and make purchases of commodities or goods.
- Setup & maintain Kanban cards for shop supplies and MRO items
- Work to develop World-Class supplier base for products and services. Eventually take full ownership for relationships between company & supply base.
- Apply Lean concepts to drive improvement in delivery and working capital utilization.
- Cultivate strong working relationships with cross functional teams
- Conduct inventory analysis and management to meet established business goals to reduce inventory levels both at Hampel and Suppliers and improve inventory turns.
- During planning process review inventory and bin accuracy and notify Production Clerk of discrepancies for review and correction.
