What are the responsibilities and job description for the Direct Support Professional (Day Hab) position at ARI of Connecticut, Inc.?
The Skills Instructor provides instruction, training and supervision of persons served, both individually, and in groups. This includes assisting those we serve with developing knowledge, skills, attitudes and behaviors needed to live independently or perform satisfactorily in the job of their choice.
Current FULL TIME positions:
Full Time: Monday through Friday 8:30am - 3:30pm (35 hours weekly)
Full Time: Monday through Friday 9:00am - 3:30pm (32.50 hours weekly)
Full Time: Tuesday through Saturday 8:30am - 2:30pm (30 hours weekly)
General Responsibilities:
Instructs, trains and supervises persons served in terms of agency rules and regulations, and where appropriate, work performance.
Provides “hands-on” training and modeling for necessary work skills/social skills.
Develops and/or implements appropriate teaching techniques, behavior management programs, etc., to assist each individual with working independently (to the greatest extent possible), and with increasing productivity, as appropriate. Takes advantage of “informal” teachable moments throughout the day. Responsible for tracking/maintaining documentation to support teaching and behavioral strategies.
Serves as an IP Team member for any person served receiving day services.
Prepares report and completes all necessary paperwork for IP meeting
Attends and actively participates in IP meetings
Observe individuals in order to ascertain capabilities and limitations.
Makes appropriate recommendations for person served based on needs, preferences, abilities, and desires.
Works in close cooperation with other staff members and areas in planning and providing effective programs in the best interest of each person served.
Work schedules and hours for other program areas other than his/her primary area when driven by the needs of the overall program.
Maintains current records and reports to ensure compliance with appropriate accreditation and certification standards.
Completes and maintains records and reports for state funding sources.
Has knowledge of and adheres to agency and area policies and procedures.
Engages in continuous inspection of persons served work for quality and accuracy.
Assists in making adaptive equipment (jigs and fixtures) to aid persons served.
Assists with the maintenance, cleanliness and safety of the facility.
Helps maintain unit equipment to keep it in safe working condition.
Communicates to their Manager regarding overall program status, emergencies, and any other relevant information on a timely basis.
Assists in providing back up for co-workers in their absence.
Works with individuals in all other programs within ARI of Connecticut, Inc., to assist them with developing skills and knowledge in areas of interest.
Attends and actively participates in scheduled staff meetings, as assigned.

Pay: $18.46 per hour
