The purpose of this position is to facilitate timely and accurate eligibility checks for Vision, Podiatry and Dental services. This is achieved by reviewing and verifying eligibility for patients in assigned markets on the upcoming schedules. This role is fast paced, requires attention to detail, and knowledge of Medicare, Medicare Advantage, Medicaid and Commerican insurance.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities


  • Verify and ensure accurate patient eligibility and benefit information to support timely and accurate revenue recognition.
  • Maintain up-to-date information on patient coverage.
  • Research eligibility information online with various insurance carriers.
  • Responsible for acting as a liaison between clinical service managers and billing to ensure all proper measures are taken and information is collected.
  • Responsible for obtaining all referrals and authorizations for procedures and services, as required.
  • Keep information in an orderly manner readily accessible for review as requested.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve any problems or questions related to eligibility and benefits.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Billing Manager
Requirements:

Education & Training Requirements

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent work experience.
  • 2 years’ experience in healthcare eligibility/medical billing/customer service.
  • 1 Year of meeting goals and success at cleaning up of difficult accounts.
  • Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Knowledge and experience with Medicare, Medicaid and Commercial insurance.

  • Experience working in Practice Management Software.

  • Customer service — Manage difficult client/customer situations, respond promptly to customer needs, solicit customer feedback to improve service, respond to requests for service and assistance and meet commitments
  • Planning/organizing — Prioritize and plan work activities and use time efficiently.
  • Quality control/Attention to detail — Demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness; monitor own work to ensure quality and apply feedback to improve performance.
  • Adaptability — Adapt to changes in the work environment, manage competing demands, and deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events.
  • Dependability — Consistently at work and on time, follow instructions, respond to management direction, and solicit feedback to improve performance.
  • Able to work in a team environment.

Physical Effort & Working Conditions

Work is performed in a normal office setting with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards Substantial time is spent working on a computer and on the phone.

Work Location

This is a full-time position working standard business hours Monday - Friday. Position reports to the office for first six-months then moves to hybrid.
