PRIMARY PURPOSE It is the primary responsibility of the Service Attendant to expedite guests’ drink orders and provide beverage and bus service. All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and company policies, practices, and procedures. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Take order, serve food and drinks efficiently and accurately in work area as applicable Place order, garnish and serve cocktails to guests Collect money, while following all proper cash handling and comp procedures Answer telephone in service areas and direct calls where necessary Maintain cleanliness and stock of assigned areas, side stations and tables Promote and maintain the highest level of service to all guests while staying alert to their needs and respond effectively to guest inquiries Resolve guest complaints within scope of authority; otherwise, refer the matter to management, notify supervisor and/or Security of all unusual events, circumstances, missing items, or alleged theft KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of menu items, including characteristics of wine and champagne by the glass, major wines, liquor brands, beer, non-alcoholic beverages, designated glassware, terminology, and garnishes Knowledgeable of standard kitchen equipment and supplies, including, but not limited to toasters, refrigerators, and coolers, slicers and beverage machines Knowledge of health, safety and sanitation regulations Ability to multi-task and work well in a fast paced, team-oriented environment Knowledgeable of computers and Point of Sale (POS) systems Able to effectively communicate in English, in both written and verbal forms Knowledge of hotel services, features, local attractions and activities to respond to guest inquiries accurately Excellent customer service skills and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with all business contacts MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: High school diploma or equivalent Work varied shifts, to include weekends and holidays PREFERRED: One (1) year of cocktail and guest service experience Experience working in a similar resort setting MGM Resorts International develops, builds and operates unique destination resorts designed to provide a total resort experience, including first-class accommodations and dining, world-class entertainment, state-of-the-art meeting and convention facilities, and high-quality retail and gaming experiences.
