What You'll Do : As a Direct Support Professional (DSP) , you'll be providing crucial, hands-on assistance to individuals in their homes and communities. Your responsibilities will include :
- Daily Living Assistance : Provide support in activities of daily living (ADLs) such as dressing, grooming, and personal hygiene (e.g., assisting with bathing, oral hygiene, nail care, shaving, and hairstyling).
- Mobility Support : Help members with safe transfers in and out of beds, baths, wheelchairs, or automobiles.
- Toileting Assistance : Aid with toileting, including reminders and helping with the management of any medical devices (e.g., catheters or ostomy bags).
- Personal Care : Assist with hygiene, such as washing, drying, adjusting water temperature, and setting up equipment for bathing.
- Meal Planning and Preparation : Plan, shop for, and / or prepare nutritious meals, or assist members in doing so.
- Housekeeping : Help with light housekeeping duties, including changing linens, laundry, and maintaining a clean and safe living environment.
- Promote Independence : Support members in skill-building activities and daily tasks to enhance their independence and personal growth.
- Emotional Support : Provide encouragement, positive reinforcement, and emotional support to members as they pursue their goals.
- Safety and Well-being : Ensure the safety and well-being of individuals, including monitoring for any potential risks or health concerns.
