Position Objective:
The Bilingual Medical Office Assistant / Insurance Verification specialist works in a private practice setting, performing an important variety of duties including: greeting, registering, scheduling, and checking out patients on a computerized practice management system. The candidate must be bilingual , be able to speak both English and Spanish!
High volume mental health practice seeking talented self starter to join our administrative team.
Responsibilities include, verifying insurance benefits, collecting co - pays, uploading scanned documents into electronic medical record system, front desk coverage as needed for backup, appointment scheduling/data entry into our medical software program, filing and other varied office responsibilities.
- Verify patient insurance coverage and update records accordingly
- Communicate with insurance companies to obtain benefit information
- Assist patients with insurance-related inquiries and explain coverage details
- Ensure that claims are processed correctly and timely
- Handle denials and appeals, and communicate with healthcare providers as needed
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations
- Provide support to billing and administrative staff as necessary
Strong organizational, computer and communication skills a must. You also should be very comfortable working with numbers.
Ability to multitask and work effectively as a member of our administrative team in a fast-paced, friendly environment.

Responsibilities also include maintaining and safe-keeping of patient medical records and contributing to smooth patient flow within the office.
The Office Assistant provides stellar customer service in all patient interactions whether in fact to face meetings or by telephone.
The Office Assistant works in a cooperative, friendly and results oriented manner with all other members of the practice staff and the Physician(s).
Greets and accurately registers patients into the practice management system.
Communicates with insurance companies and other medical offices to obtain referrals and verifications of coverage.
- Performs scanning and abstracting duties.
- Obtains patient records from various offices and hospitals as needed.
- Answers and screens office calls, makes patient appointments, takes messages and redirects calls as appropriate.
- Performs daily business operations Educational/Experience Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED required or documentation of graduation from an accredited training program preferred.
- One year of clerical/billing experience in a medical office setting, preferred
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $16.00 - $19.00 per hour
