PRIMARY FUNCTION:
The Line Lead is responsible for leading the effective operation of a production line, including safety, quality, productivity, and efficiency goals of the production line.
The Line Lead responsibilities is to ensure the production line is ready and supplied for shift start. The Line Lead will respond to start up problems and issues from the prior shift. The Line Lead will maintain a safe working environment and ensure the highest quality products. The Line Lead will inform the Supervisor of all issues that they are not able to address. The Line Lead will ensure cross-training is being performed.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following is a brief description of some of the duties and responsibilities but is not limited to:
- Respond to start up and equipment issues.
- Reporting of start up, equipment, and staffing issues to the Supervisor.
- Report issues with the prior shift.
- Organize and lead the team to achieve the production schedule.
- Ensure the line is properly prepared for changeovers.
- Maintain housekeeping, quality, and safety.
- Insure the “Standard Work Instructions” are being adhered to.
- Review scrap and the products requiring re-work.
- Ensure production data is properly collected and maintained.
- Work with maintenance to ensure preventive maintenance is performed in a timely manner on the line’s production equipment.
- Ensure new employees are trained and that existing employees are properly cross-trained in multiple areas.
- Review and order supplies.
- Support continuous improvement.
- Maintain the 6S program.
- Other duties as assigned.
TECHNICAL EXPERTISE:
The following is a brief description of some of the processes in the technical expertise duties but is not limited to:
- A basic understanding of the operations involved in manufacturing the products.
- The understanding of the operational aspects of the equipment being used on the line.
