Music Teacher - West Valley (K-6th grade) - 24/25 School Year
Arizona’s first and only autism-focused charter school is expanding and seeking a General Music Teacher to teach in the new state-of-the-art autism center.
Under the supervision and direction of the Campus Director; the Music Teacher will be responsible for teaching students general music to Elementary school students.
Duties:
- Teach skills in singing, playing, listening, reading, moving and writing to students
- Teach knowledge of musical elements, expression, structure, and historical and cultural aspects of music
- Create an effective environment that leads to the development of positive attitudes, awareness of, and response to musical elements; conscious building of good self-concepts; willingness to use knowledge to perform and to explore and create musical ideas.
- Align curriculum to Arizona State Music Standards.
- Teach choral concepts and develop a school choir club that will perform at school and community events.
- Develop lesson plans, instructional activities, and materials based on district goals and curriculum.
- Provide activities and instruction that will include individual, small group and large group settings that may include inter-school program participation.
- Participate with students in public performances, festivals, and district-wide programs.
- Maintain accurate grading records in accordance with district, federal and state guidelines.
- Participate cooperatively with fellow teachers and appropriate administrators to develop an effective program of general/choral music.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook proficiency
- Google G-Suite experience
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in music, choral, or music therapy preferred but not required
- Teacher certification preferred but not required
- Ability to play piano is preferred

Supervisory Responsibilities:
Set up of lessons and instructional activities for classroom support staff. Coaches, monitors, and mentors classroom support staff working with students with disabilities.
ADA AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Positions in this class require: stooping, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
Light Work:
Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
Working Conditions:
Work is routinely performed in an indoor and outdoor classroom setting.

Salary : $50,000 - $56,000
