Arizona Autism Charter Schools (AZACS) is seeking a person with leadership experience to serve as Campus Assistant Director at our Phoenix Main Campus which serves students in grades 4 through 12. Under the supervision and direction of the Campus Directors, the Assistant Director will ensure compliance with Special Education at the campus level. This role will also ensure the high-quality implementation of special education programs on the campus.
Candidates must be experienced in IDEA law, the special education process, and timelines, and have the ability to train staff in these areas to ensure compliance with the charter. Candidates should also be fluent and confident when interfacing with the Arizona Department of Education, Exceptional Student Services Department. This person will work hand-in-hand with the Campus Directors and Executive Team to promote a positive school culture that focuses on implementing a best-practice educational model to achieve optimal results for students on the autism spectrum as well as students with other special needs.
Duties:
Positions in this class require: stooping, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.
Light Work:
Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
Working Conditions:
Work is routinely performed in an indoor classroom environment.

Duties:
- Ensures the campus remains compliant in the areas of SPED and 504 as well as implements any technical recommendations given by those departments at ADE
- Ensures federal and state compliance with IDEA
- Plans, implements, and evaluates instructional programs side by side with the Campus Directors
- Works with appropriate staff to develop, maintain, and revise special programs based on systematic review and analysis
- Implements special education policies and creates status reports for the Executive Leadership team
- Provides oversight and guidance in the writing of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) to all Case Managers including those individuals who are on Alternative Certificates or newly certified.
- Serve as campus 504 coordinator
- Evaluate all related services and school psychologist staff on campus.
- Plans and directs professional development to staff in collaboration with appropriate personnel to meet the needs of special education students
- Participates in all duties and responsibilities as appropriate for an AZACS faculty member
- Provides professional development to the campus as necessary related to special education topics.
- Manage 45-day screeners, and a site-based Child Study Team for intervention referrals.
- Collects, analyzes, and reports data in a meaningful manner
- Celebrates the achievements and successes of students
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Coaches, monitors, and mentors Campus SPED Teacher, IEP Writer, Instruction and Alignment Coach, and other special education staff.
- Supervises, coaches, monitors, and mentors related services personnel on the campus.
- Competitive pay based on experience ($70,000 to $78,000 DOE)

- 5 years of experience working with students with autism
- 3 - 5 years teaching special education
- Valid Special Education Arizona Teaching Certification required
- Experience and training in Applied Behavior Analysis(ABA) preferred
- Experience in structured teaching, center-based model preferred
- Valid IVP Arizona fingerprint clearance card required
- Masters Degree or higher required
