Job Description
Salary: $47,000 - $65,000 DOE
Under the supervision and direction of the Campus Leadership, the Certified Special Education Teacher will effectively manage a caseload of students while preparing lesson plans, instructing students, evaluating and monitoring students performance and advancing student achievement in the environment. The Certified Special Education Teacher should have experience differentiating instruction for a variety of learners and will work collaboratively with a team to plan and support instruction in accordance with students IEP goals. Teachers in this role should demonstrate a commitment to professional development through didactic workshops and classroom coaching.
Candidates should have a passion for students on the spectrum and a willingness to be trained and coached in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) strategies. The Certified Special Education Teacher will support a caseload of students and work on a team to implement a best-practice educational model to achieve optimal results for students on the autism spectrum and students with other related disorders at the Tucson Campus.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Positions in this class require: stooping, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
Light Work:
Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
Working Conditions:
Work is routinely performed in an indoor classroom environment.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Directs, monitors, and mentors paraprofessionals and behavior specialists working with students who have disabilities.
- Engagement and oversight of staff and student caseload
- Provide instructional support for students enrolled in the onsite school
- Provide daily feedback to paraprofessionals and behavior specialists
- Professional development for staff on modifications and implementation
- Analyze curriculum data bi-weekly to make instructional decisions
- Ongoing Student and Parent communication
- Modification of materials for classrooms as needed
- Structured teaching planning, organizing, and implementing
- Staff communication/feedback
- Maintain substitute plans in case of Lead Instructor's absence
- Maintain alternative staffing plans in case of para absence where coverage is not available
- Participate in all duties and responsibilities as appropriate for an AZACS faculty member
- Maintains knowledge of special education teaching methods, research, and best practices through professional development and study
- Develop Individualized Education Plans(IEPs) for caseload and attend all required student meetings
- Collect, analyze, and report data in a meaningful manner
- Celebrates the achievements and successes of students.
- Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this position.
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Experience managing and teaching a caseload of students with disabilities
- At least 3 years of experience working with students with moderate to severe disabilities
- Experience and training in Applied Behavior Analysis(ABA) preferred
- Valid Arizona fingerprint clearance card
- Arizona IVP Fingerprint clearance card
- Valid Special Education Teaching Certification
- Bachelors Degree or higher
