Registered Nurse (Part Time in Green Valley)

Summary
This role will be responsible for independently coordinating and providing safe patient care including the delivery of IV infusions, educates patients about disease and treatment, triage patients calls, and collaborate with the providers.
Responsibilities:
- Assess and monitor patient’s physical and emotional well-being
- Documents nursing encounters in the Electronic Medical Record
- Verifies regimen orders and administers chemotherapy, biologics, immunotherapy and supportive care medications according to institutional policies and protocols
- Recognizes and responds to cancer-related issues including toxicities and oncological emergencies
- Assesses readiness of patient/family to learn and provide individualized patient education
- Provides compassionate support to patients and family
- Communicates with patients and providers pertinent concerns or feedback
- Identifies and works to resolve barriers that impede quality, safe and efficient delivery of patient treatment and care
- Triage and prioritize needs of patients either directly or by phone
- Participates and monitors quality improvement activities
- Acts as a liaison between the clinical and administrative staff
- Assists in the development and implementation of clinical policies and procedures
Key Competencies:
- Knowledge of oncology practices and treatments.
- Knowledge of current developments in cancer diagnosis and therapy.
- Knowledge of research practices for phases I, II and III clinical trials.
- Oncology resource to colleagues, allied health personnel and health care consumers.
- Ability to administer chemotherapy and other treatment therapies.
- Ability to empathize with patients and families and deal with grief and challenging patient interactions.
- Ability to collaborate with health care team to make personalized treatment plan for each cancer patient
- Ability to cope with death and dying.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program
- BLS certification
- Current Arizona RN license in good standing
- Competent in venipuncture and vascular access
- 3-5 years of experience in a busy hematology/oncology clinic setting
- Completion of ONS Chemotherapy/Biotherapy course
