Arizona College of Nursing is seeking a Financial Aid Officer to join our Aurora campus!

  • The schedule for this position is Monday-Friday, 9:30am - 6:30pm.
  • This position is located 100% on-site at the campus.
  • Pay range: $24.00-$25.50/hour

What You'll Do:

The Financial Aid Officer (FAO) plays a critical role in guiding students throughout the financial aid process. The FAO is responsible for counseling students and families on financial aid eligibility, processing awards, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and institutional policies, and supporting student success through proactive financial aid assistance. 

 

Essential Functions:

 

Financial Aid Support

  • Counsel students and families on financial aid eligibility, application procedures, and available funding options (Title IV aid, institutional loans, Scholarships, and agency assistance).
  • Guide students through the FAFSA process, verification requirements, and award acceptance.
  • Explain loan terms, repayment responsibilities, and financial literacy concepts.
  • Assist students in resolving financial aid-related concerns that may impact their ability to continue enrollment.

File Compliance

  • Accurately package and process financial aid awards in accordance with federal, state, and institutional policies.
  • Maintain compliance with Department of Education regulations by verifying and updating students’ records.
  • Identify and resolve discrepancies in student accounts to ensure timely aid disbursement.
  • Stay current with evolving financial aid regulations and best practices.

Student Retention & Success

  • Conduct proactive outreach to students regarding financial aid status, documentation needs, and funding options.
  • Monitor student accounts to ensure accurate and timely application of aid.
  • Collaborate with academic and student services teams to ensure a seamless student experience.
  • Provide financial counseling to students facing financial challenges that may impact their enrollment.

Collaborate & Communicate Effectively

  • Maintain positive working relationships with students, colleagues, and external agencies.
  • Work closely with the Director of Financial Aid and other campus leadership to optimize financial aid processes.
  • Contribute to department meetings, training sessions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Document student interactions and financial aid processes to ensure accurate records and compliance.

What We Need From You:

To perform this job successfully, an applicant must have professional demeanor, the ability to work independently, understand goals and deadlines and possess excellent communication and organizational skills. 

 

Must have:

  • High School Diploma.
  • At least 1 year of experience in financial aid, student services, customer service, or a related field.
  • Strong customer service skills with a passion for helping others.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and counseling skills.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
  • Ability to enroll in NSLDS.

Nice to have:

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution, or equivalent work experience.
  • Previous experience in a higher education or financial aid setting.
  • Familiarity with Title IV regulations and student financial aid policies.
  • Working knowledge of financial literacy and student loan repayment options.
