Arizona College Prep is accepting applications for a strength and conditioning specialist starting July 2025.
Responsibilities Include:
- Supervise five courses of Strength and Conditioning in the PE Department, including a mix of introductory students to varsity athletes.
- Oversee, implement, and develop performance programming for athletic teams and individual student-athletes.
- Enhance strength, power, agility, flexibility, speed, and conditioning through tailored, sport-specific training programs.
- Test and evaluate student-athletes to monitor progress and make necessary adjustments to training plans.
- Collaborate with coaches and athletic trainers to assess student-athlete progress, reduce injury risks, and support return-to-play plans.
- Educate student-athletes on recovery strategies, nutrition, and sleep habits to support overall well-being.
- Promote proper exercise techniques to maximize performance and prevent injuries.
- Stay current on industry trends and research, attending professional development opportunities, including conferences, workshops, and certifications.
- Foster a positive, motivating environment in a clean and safe training facility.
- Coordinates summer (June) strength training for various athletic programs.
Qualifications:
Educational Background:
- Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Physical Education, or a related field.
Certifications:
- Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) is highly desirable.
- Additional certifications from reputable organizations such as:
- USA Weightlifting (USAW) Level 1 or higher.
- Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) through NASM, ACSM, or similar.
- First Aid, CPR, and AED certification.
Experience:
- Proven experience (3–5 years preferred) in strength and conditioning, especially working with high school or collegiate athletes.
- Demonstrated success in developing and implementing sport-specific training programs for elite-level athletes.
- Experience supervising or mentoring assistant coaches, interns, or students.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Expertise in designing and implementing comprehensive strength and conditioning programs tailored to individual and team needs.
- Strong understanding of biomechanics, functional movement patterns, and injury prevention strategies.
- Knowledge of recovery techniques, sports nutrition, and sleep optimization for athletes.
- Familiarity with return-to-play protocols and collaboration with athletic trainers.
Leadership and Communication:
- Ability to motivate and mentor student-athletes to achieve peak performance while maintaining a positive and supportive environment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively with coaches, athletic trainers, administrators, and parents.
Professional Development:
- Commitment to staying current on the latest research, trends, and best practices in the field of strength and conditioning.
- Participation in relevant workshops, conferences, and continuing education opportunities.
Technical and Administrative Skills:
- Proficiency with performance tracking tools and technology (e.g., wearable devices, training software, and video analysis).
- Organizational skills for maintaining records, scheduling training sessions, and managing the strength and conditioning facility.

- Previous experience coaching or training in a competitive, elite sports environment.
