Senior Accountant
Job Summary
The Senior Accountant at Arizona Country Club will compute, classify, and record numerical data to keep financial records complete. Perform any combination of routine calculating, posting, and verifying duties to obtain primary financial data for use in maintaining accounting records ensuring compliance with accounting principles and 501c7 non-profit requirements. May also check the accuracy of figures, calculations, and postings pertaining to business transactions recorded by other workers.

Key Responsibilities
- Operate computers programmed with accounting software to record, store, and analyze information.
- Check figures and documents for correct entry, mathematical accuracy, and proper codes.
- Process payment processing functions for accounts payable process using an automation system and integration with accounting software.
- Manage aging accounts receivable and enforce collection guidelines as set forth in governing bylaws.
- Responsible for working with multiple department leaders to review transaction workflows and identify efficiencies where applicable.
- Responsible for understanding state/local sales & use tax requirements and overseeing systems setup for accurate transactions and reporting.
- Contributing to the development and review of annual operating budgets and performance projections.
- Review and audit all month-end inventory transfers/counts and support managers as needed.
- Conduct or coordinate audits of company accounts and financial transactions.
- Perform monthly balance sheet and bank reconciliations.
- Become knowledgeable of federal, and state regulations and monitor staff transactions for compliance.
- Maintain and set up back-office Point of Sale functions and the automated accounts payable systems.
- Assist the CFO in evaluating actual vs. budget results.
- Assist the CFO in preparing the monthly financial package and timely financial reporting.
- Assist the CFO in maintaining an accurate. Fixed asset register and Capital Reserve study file.
- Assist the CFO with the annual audit and tax filing.
- Updates and reconciles member classification status changes and balance sheet accounts.
- Provide support and assist with HR functions when needed, including payroll.
- Compile statistical, financial, and accounting policies and procedures.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in industry educational opportunities.
- Support country club and management with other various ad hoc duties as assigned by management.
- Train and supervise accounting support staff.
- Provide exceptional service and support to our members and staff.
Candidate Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance from a four-year college or university or equivalent of education and work experience in accounting required. 2 years of relevant work experience in a similar type of role. Knowledge and proven understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Jonas software, Hospitality/Country Club accounting, and 501c7 entity experience preferred but not required.
Physical Requirements:
- Must have the ability to sit or stand for long periods of time.
- Must have good hand dexterity.
- Must be able to see detail at close range.
- Must have good written and oral comprehension and expression
- Must be able to sit for extended periods of time while using a computer or speaking on the telephone.
- Must be able to lift materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Must have excellent communication skills and be able to read, write, and speak English.
