The Department of Emergency & Military Affairs (DEMA), led by The Adjutant General, provides emergency management and military capabilities to the citizens of Arizona and the nation. The Emergency Management Division consists of various sections-operations, recovery, preparedness, and grants administration. Each section works collaboratively across the agency and with external partners to manage emergency responses and reduce the impacts of disasters. Additionally, DEMA is the headquarters for the Arizona National Guard, the primary combat reserve of the United States military. The Arizona Army and Air National Guard provide military forces and equipment to accomplish community, state, and federal missions.

Position works variable shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Job Summary :
This Security Officer I position provides armed security services to Camp Navajo facilities to protect against threats that would justify use of force, to include deadly force. Conducts physical security activities associated with installation access control and critical asset protection. Provides other physical security equipment and services necessary to secure ARNG resources, and personnel as approved by Army Operations Division Protection branch (ARNG-ODP).
Job Duties :
Responsibilities include :
- Control entry to and egress from the installation / facility via designated access control points (ACP) at the outer most perimeter of the boundary or cantonment area. Access control includes random inspections of privately owned vehicles and personnel entering DoD owned or controlled installations and facilities, including items in the vehicles and items that are carried by personnel. Inspect all types of commercial deliveries to include their drivers and occupants, entering DOD owned or controlled installations or facilities.
- Control entry and egress of personnel and vehicles, via entry control point, of designated restricted area. Maintain logs of access into the restricted area IAW Army regulations. Conducting vehicle and rail car inspections for deliveries with HAZMAT / explosive / ordnance into the restricted area. Conducting security and escorts for HAZMAT / explosive / ordinance material transported to the restricted area. Support compliance with Hazards of Electromagnetic Radiation to Ordnance program.
- Maintaining visibility of an area, or of means of access to an area containing AA&E, through motoring CCTV, ADVM System and physical checking sites and reporting inspections. Monitor Intrusion Detection System and provide armed security personnel capable of responding to the scene of security alerts involving AA&E.
- Security checks of installation / facility perimeters, and sensitive or critical areas to counter criminal, terrorist, and hostile threats. Monitor Electronic Security Systems (ESS) and devices, Closed Circuit Television (CCTV), Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) associated with installation access control and critical asset protection.
- Serve as first responder to an incident on the installation to preserve life, limb and eyesight and act IAW National Incident Management system to emergency response. Provide emergency escorts and access to external emergency responders. Assist in the direction to evacuate the installation personnel and secure installation infrastructure during a natural disaster, terrorist incident, industrial accident, or any other emergency event requiring evacuation of personnel.
- Interact with foreign military and civilian nationals in support of the NEW START inspections.
- Support Morale, Welfare, and Recreation program at CN.

Desired qualifications include any combination of experience, education and training that meets the knowledge, skills, and abilities described. The preferred candidate for this position will possess an Arizona (DPS) Guard Card, has experience working within the Military Police or former law enforcement, and has certification in Physical Security Courses and Anti-terrorism Courses.
