Job Summary:
Apply technology and engineering principles to the planning, functional design, operation and management of transportation facilities in order to provide for the safe, efficient, and economical movement of people and goods.
Most assignments require working in the field exposed to various weather conditions.
Will rotate during EIT program through different areas including construction, project management, and design.
Job Duties:
- Perform engineering duties and tasks related to project development, construction and operations with oversight from supervisor.
- Design plans.
- Analyze data related to materials, safety, construction parameters and specifications.
- Research & Review information & plans, performs calculations and write reports related to assigned project(s).
- Inspect contractor work to ensure adherence to design & approved plan specifications.
- Document preparation and processing tor reimbursement and compliance.
- Utilizes computer software and modeling packages to perform the assigned task(s)/project(s).
- Other duties as assigned as related to the position.
The Ideal candidate for this position will have:
Bachelors of Science - Civil Engineering or equivalent, or four years' experience in transportation engineering field.
Pre-Employment Requirements:
This position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job, and the following requirements apply. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver’s license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver’s license record checks. The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R2-10-207.11).
Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Certification: candidate is required to successfully pass the exam before completion of the 2 year EIT Program.
All newly hired State employees are subject to and must successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify).
