Shelter Medical Supervisor
The Arizona Humane Society is looking for a dedicated full-time high quality high volume Shelter Medical Supervisor for our Kitten Nursery and Parvo ICU departments. Location: Rob & Melani Walton Papago Park Campus
Status: 1.0 FTE
Schedule: Thursday through Sunday 7am-6pm
Reports To: Shelter Medical Manager
Supervises: Kitten Nursery/BB ICU/Puppy Parvo ICU/Mutternity & Meowternity Suite Technicians

A day in the Life:
As the Shelter Medical Supervisor you will help oversee the 24/7 operations at our new state of the art Papago Park Campus. You will coordinate the care and treatment of animals in isolation, intensive care units, to ensure complete and humane care is given in a timely manner. Compile and report on all departmental activities of the overseen medical areas. Train new staff members, create staffing schedules, approve time cards, and coach staff as required. Coordinate activities with other departments to ensure efficient flow and treatment of all patients. Evaluate, update and implement new/existing policies and procedures to keep medical areas in adherence to all board, OSHA, and AAHA requirements.
Job Requirements:
- High school diploma/GED
- Graduation from technical school plus two years of working in the veterinary field is required.
- Two years of supervisory experience is required.
- Perform all duties of a Clinic Technician II or CVT.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Must have excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to solve complex problems and balance multiple priorities and delegate when appropriate.
- Strong communication skills are needed.
- Should have excellent interpersonal skills and ability to resolve conflict.
Work Environment / Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. There may be occasional wet floors, animal noises, odors, and dander. Most time will be spent in a typical air-conditioned and heated office environment.
