A Day in the Life:
Volunteers are the heartbeat of AHS and our Volunteer Coordinators play a crucial role to ensure AHS departments have the support they need and that volunteers have an excellent and rewarding experience. As a Volunteer Coordinator, you will onboard new volunteers in assigned areas, serve as liaison between volunteers and departments, provide ongoing support to both, and help coach volunteers when needed. Excellent customer service experience, problem-solving and innovative thinking are key to this role.
Job Requirements:
- High schooldiploma/GED required.
- One to three years of demonstrated experience organizing projects.
- Excellent people skills and ability to develop and maintain excellent interpersonal rapport with volunteers and employees.
- Knowledge of or willingness to gain animal handling skills.
- Presentation skills in both one-on-one and in a group setting.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Conflict resolution skills and good judgment.
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, and database programs.
- Work with assigned departments to identify and fulfill their volunteer needs/shifts.
- Onboard new volunteers, schedule trainings, and prepare training materials and volunteer gear.
- Take proactive steps to schedule volunteers to fulfill weekly department needs.
- Willingness to travel to of-site and special events and facilitate large group events as needed.
- Maintain accurate and timely records, run weekly and monthly data reports.
- Handle dogs, often large dogs, to facilitate dog field trips.
- Offer tier one conflict resolution for volunteers and AHS staff.
- Carry out other special projects and assignments as needed.
Physical Demands/Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
