What are the responsibilities and job description for the Community Coalition and Policy Coordinator position at Arizona Legal Women and Youth Services (ALWAYS)?
About ALWAYS: ALWAYS’ mission is to remove legal barriers to safety, stability, and opportunity for trafficking survivors of all ages and people under 25 who have been impacted by crime, homelessness, or foster care. The organization is made up of attorneys, legal advocates, and law fellows who are dedicated to providing no-cost, trauma-informed, culturally conscientious services to people who would otherwise not have access to representation or intensive pro se assistance. With the help of ALWAYS, clients and other community members are able to obtain housing, pursue careers, and achieve safe, stable lives for themselves and their families.
Position Overview: ALWAYS’ Community Coalition and Policy Coordinator will be the organization’s key representative in local, state, national, and transnational coalitions having to do with the rights of victimized immigrants, trafficking victims and trafficking survivors, and vulnerable youth in Arizona. The successful candidate will be in charge—along with an ALWAYS community partner—of continuing the Maricopa County and Pima County Immigrant Children and Communities Coalition and participating in other coalitions such as the Arizona Coalition to End Sexual and Domestic Violence Legal Committee, and the Human Trafficking Victim Services Workgroup. Additionally, this team member will be responsible for remaining appraised of new policies or changes in policy at the local, state, and national level that influence ALWAYS’ clients and provision of services. Like the rest of the team, the person will also be involved in community outreach events and other initiatives designed to connect clients to ALWAYS’ services. This is a hybrid position requiring a minimum of 2 days/week at ALWAYS’ office. This is a non-supervisory role which reports to ALWAYS’ Managing Attorney.
