As an Ambulatory Surgery Center Billing and Coding Specialist, you will play a vital role in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of facility claims, contributing significantly to the revenue flow of our ASC. In our fast-paced environment, we are looking for a detail-oriented individual with extensive knowledge in billing, collections, and reimbursement of claims processing. You should be professional, trustworthy, and possess excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively with other business office staff. If you have a deep understanding of facility claims reimbursement and collection efforts, we want to meet you!
Responsibilities
- Audit OP Notes, Anesthesia reports, consent forms, demographics, and other documents to ensure all patient data is accurate and valid. Research and correct any discrepancies.
- Create claims and assign the appropriate CPT Codes (procedures) and ICD-10 Codes (diagnosis) for Personal Injury claims performed at our ASC’s.
- Manage and track all claims submissions across multiple entities / providers, including reviewing, investigating, and resubmitting pending or missing claims as needed.
- Follow up on outstanding A / R for all payers, including handling correspondence related to insurance carriers and patients to maximize payments and resolve issues.
- Provides technical guidance to physicians and other staff in identifying and resolving issues or errors such as incomplete or missing records and documentation, ambiguous or nonspecific documentation, and / or codes that do not conform to approved coding principles / guidelines.
- Send medical necessity documentation to insurance companies as required to support claims.
- Other duties as assigned.
