With the support of a mentor, the Forestry Intern will provide support to APS Forestry and Resource Management crews and planners so that the division’s vegetation management program complies with the department’s goals and objectives. The Forestry Intern will have the opportunity to gain hands-on work experience through project work that drives professional development and the opportunity to learn the role of vegetation management in the electric utility industry. With the support of a mentor, the Forestry Intern will provide support to APS Forestry and Resource Management crews and planners so that the division’s vegetation management program complies with the department’s goals and objectives. Intern duties may include but are not limited to:
- Data collection, entry, and analysis.
- Meet with and communicate to customers about vegetation management projects.
- Collaborate with other APS departments including T&D Operations and Maintenance, communications, lands, government affairs and community affairs.
- Subject to work outdoors during inclement weather situations.
- Periodically prone to dangers inherent to work sites including exposure to sharp, high-speed rotating equipment, electrical fields, falling and flying debris, difficult terrain, pesticides, and animal, insect, and snake bites.
- Involves driving throughout service territory.
- Enrolled in an accredited college or university undergraduate or graduate degree program.
- Must show ongoing achievement in areas of study and training.
- Must possess valid driver’s license.
