Designer II / III | Renewable & Thermal Generation
As a Designer II / III on the APS Power Generation Team, you will be responsible for developing, reviewing, and modifying complex design systems for power plants (renewable and thermal), substations, and/ or customer design projects. You will ensure all associated design configuration documents comply with established electrical and mechanical engineering standards, regulatory requirements, and project specifications. This role also provides technical oversight for engineering documentation, collaborates on cost estimates, and ensures the seamless integration of design solutions.
Key Skills & Responsibilities
Design Development & Review: Create, modify, and review complex design systems for power plants, substations, and customer-specific projects to ensure compliance with technical and regulatory standards.
Engineering Documentation Oversight: Maintain accuracy and consistency in engineering drawings, design configuration documents, and technical reports.
Cost Estimation Support: Provide input on material and equipment requirements to support accurate project cost assessments.
Compliance & Standards Adherence: Ensure all designs align with industry regulations, company standards, and safety guidelines.
Project Collaboration: Work cross-functionally with engineering teams, project managers, and field personnel to optimize design efficiency and implementation.
Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance design workflows, standardization, and best practices for increased operational effectiveness.

- Have experience in design engineering for power plants, substations, or utility infrastructure.
- Possess strong knowledge of design configuration management, technical documentation, and industry standards.
- Are proficient in CAD software, engineering design tools, and cost estimation processes.
- Demonstrate strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and technical expertise.
- Thrive in a collaborative environment, working with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality design solutions.

- High School diploma/GED.
- Must have completed two years college or technical school coursework in CADD or a technical discipline (or equivalent)
- Two (2) years related design experience in area of specialization
- Must demonstrate effective interpersonal, communications and PC skills in a Windows environment.
- Valid driver's license.
