Summary
The Energy Innovation Analyst Sr is responsible for developing and managing the programmatic aspects of customer programs and tools, including but not limited to APS’s Conservation Behavior, Marketplace and the Energy and Demand Education programs within the Demand Side Management portfolio. The programs are both customer and utility-focused, including budget oversight and reporting, project work plan implementation, key success indicator tracking and reporting, internal communication plans, training preparation and coordination, advanced technical assessments, and trend analysis. Develops and maintains technical expertise and may be called on to act as lead on other major projects and programs, coordinating and managing activities across multiple business units to extract the highest value. Develops relationships with key stakeholders both internally and externally. Reports to management on program status and provides advice on issues and opportunities.
Responsible for analyzing business opportunities in both new and existing markets. Develops proposals, including feasibility studies, for new business opportunities. Identifies, analyzes and compares alternative opportunities for entering new markets and adopting new technologies. Monitors and reports on portfolio status and proactively addresses and resolves issues.

Managing budgets, managing incentives, working with implementation partners, program marketing and administration, managing integrations and development work
Research and understand relevant technology trends and emerging business models, including early-stage developments.

- Experience in managing budgets with multiple variables
- Bachelors' degree in Engineering, Science, Information Technology or related field and 5 years of prior relevant experience in the technology, power and/or natural gas sectors with an understanding of regulatory, technical and business issues impacting the industry.
- In lieu of Bachelor's degree, High School/GED plus 9 years directly related experience in the technology, power and/or natural gas sectors with an understanding of regulatory, technical and business issues impacting the industry including renewables, distributed energy and grid technologies.
- Detailed knowledge and understanding of one or more emerging energy technologies and related business models, such as solar, energy storage, electric vehicles, energy management software platforms etc.
- Experience collecting and analyzing data of medium to high complexity with multiple correlations and variables.
- Experience working with the strategy and business development teams to assess technology-driven business opportunities, and build business cases for handling of the most impactful technologies.
- Understanding of financial concepts and ability to model business scenarios.
- Strong analytical skills with demonstrated ability to research initiatives and stay current with industry trends & developments.
- Strong presentation and writing skills and ability to convey complex/technical content in a coherent and compelling story for audiences with varying levels of technical knowledge Ability to establish relationships with multiple technology teams and provide subject-matter expertise and advice relevant to specific business needs.
- Manage standard Energy Innovation related projects, both directly and through collaboration with other internal and external groups through effective research, data and trend analysis.
- Research and understand relevant technology trends and emerging business models, including early stage developments.
- Prepare regular business updates on industry trends, emerging technologies and technology-enabled business models, focusing on the potential opportunities and threats for the Company.
- Develop analytical and technical capabilities and expertise in areas including: distributed generation, energy storage and smart grid technologies, regulatory and policy issues.
- Work closely with other business unit teams to assess technology-driven business opportunities, and build business cases for handling of the most impactful technologies.
- Provide support and expertise in forecasting the business impacts of emerging technologies, and ensure these perspectives are factored into business case development.
- Effectively interface and resolve project issues with departmental staff, other departments, regulatory agencies and other stakeholders to meet project requirements.
- Maintain and foster business relationships with business units and vendors, participating in negotiations and evaluations to identify potential issues and risks.
- Participate, as Company representative in various forums, committees and working groups dealing with various Energy Innovation technical, policy and regulatory issues.
- Demonstrates a continuous learning mindset and knowledge of pilot and proof of concept goals and processes. Able to contribute to the construction of a POC plan and test platform.
