JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Med Tech will be responsible for administering medications, monitoring patient responses, and ensuring the safe handling of medications in compliance with state regulations and facility policies. This role plays a critical part in supporting individuals with substance use disorders by ensuring medication adherence and providing compassionate care.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent required; Certified Medication Technician (CMT) or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) with medication administration training. Experience in behavioral health, mental health, or substance use treatment preferred.
Experience: Training or experience in substance abuse and/or behavioral health services; preferred.
Certification: TB test upon hire and screening annually thereafter, Fingerprint Clearance Card as stated in ARC policies, Healthcare Provider CPR and First Aid within 90 days of hire and every 2 years thereafter, Handle with Care within the first 90 days of hire and annually thereafter.
Knowledge/Skills:
- Must be able to interact positively with clients daily whose behavior may be difficult, uncooperative or aggressive.
- Must be able to perform concentrated and/or complex mental activity with frequent involvement in complex and/or highly technical situations.
- Must be able to work successfully under highly stressful conditions.
- Must be able to make sound, independent judgments based on scientific and/or ethical principles.
- Must be able to comprehend and perform oral and written instructions and procedures.
- Must be able to collaborate with other multidisciplinary team members in an appropriate fashion.
- Must be capable of adapting to varying workloads and work assignments on a constant basis.
- Must have effective comprehensive reading skills, strong communication skills, written and verbal.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION:
- Must be able to demonstrate special training, knowledge and skills, as well as job and/or program specific competency within the first three (3) months of training, and annually thereafter.
- Must be certified in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation/ First Aid with in 90 days of employment and recertified every 2 years thereafter.
- Must complete all required mandatory in-services annually.
- Must be tested for Tuberculosis with a PPD skin test or chest x-ray; PPD skin test required annually, or chest x-ray as indicated.
- Must be certified in HWC within the first three (3) months of hire and annually thereafter.
