Position Summary: The Financial Controller is responsible for managing all finance and accounting functions within the organization. Key responsibilities include management of corporate accounting, regulatory reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and finalization of financial statements on a timely and accurate basis. The Controller is a key management position within the company and provides consultation and management relating to the finance and accounting functions of the organization.
Essential Job Functions:
- Manage all accounting functions including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, General Ledger, General Accounting, Inventory Management, Revenue Recognition, and Financial Statements.
- Prepare and publish timely financial statements (monthly and annually).
- Facilitate the month-end and year-end closing process.
- Manage the budgeting process and provide financial forecasts and reporting.
- Coordinate and liaise with outside project management consultants to realize a conversion from current ERP to a new ERP system.
- Develop, document, and communicate financial and accounting processes to the organization and ensure understanding and compliance.
- Identify areas of improvement and work with the Accounting Team to realize efficiencies and optimize day-to-day functions.
- Strengthen and maintain internal control functions to adhere to standard separation of duties procedures.
- Provide oversight and coaching to management personnel within the Accounting Team to develop skills and improve efficiency.
Job Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s of Science in Accounting or related field required. Master’s Degree in Accounting or MBA with a focus in Finance or Accounting or equivalent preferred.
Experience:
- Proven success in top-level management roles within Accounting teams (CFO, Controller, Accounting Manager, or similar).
- Minimum of 10 years of overall accounting and finance experience.
- CPA or CMA preferred.
- Thorough knowledge of best practices in accounting and finance.
- Experience developing financial statements.
- Experience managing accounting functions in the restaurant supply field (including realizing rebates and spiff programs).
- Leadership and management experience and ability to work well with a management team.
- Experience facilitating general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end closing process.
- Ability to learn and become a super-user in new accounting software.
- Excellent communication within a team and with outside teams.
- Expert in Excel and Crystal Reports preferred.
This is an exempt, salaried position. Normal working hours are Monday through Friday, 8AM - 5PM. This position offers eligibility for health benefits including medical, dental, vision, life, supplemental insurance and 401(k) matching along with paid holidays, vacation, and sick time.
