The Customer Service Representative in the Motor Vehicle Department will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service to the public. This role involves processing motor vehicle titles, registrations, permits, and other related tasks. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle a high volume of transactions efficiently and accurately.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process Titles and Registrations: Assist customers in processing motor vehicle titles and registrations, ensuring all documentation is complete and accurate.
- Issue Permits: Handle the issuance of permits, including temporary and specialty permits, according to state regulations and department policies.
- Customer Assistance: Provide clear and accurate information to customers regarding motor vehicle regulations, fees, and requirements. Answer customer inquiries via phone, email, and in-person interactions.
- Data Entry: Accurately enter and update customer information and transaction details into the department’s database.
- Fee Collection: Collect and process payments for titles, registrations, permits, and other services. Issue receipts and balance cash drawers at the end of each shift.
- Compliance: Ensure all transactions comply with state laws, regulations, and department policies. Report any discrepancies or issues to the supervisor.
- Document Verification: Review and verify the authenticity and completeness of documents submitted by customers for motor vehicle transactions.
- Problem Resolution: Resolve customer complaints and issues promptly and courteously. Escalate complex issues to the appropriate department or supervisor.
- Other Duties as Assigned: Perform additional tasks as required by the Motor Vehicle Department to support efficient operations.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience: Prior experience in customer service, preferably in a motor vehicle department or a similar government agency, is preferred but not required.
- Skills:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in basic computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to handle cash and perform basic mathematical calculations.

Salary : $33,500 - $44,000
