Job Description:
The Director of Experiential Learning will lead and manage the development, coordination, and execution of experiential learning initiatives within the W. P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University. Reporting to the Senior Associate Dean of Executive Education, Corporate Partnerships, and Lifelong Learning, this position is responsible for sourcing capstone/applied projects from external organizations, collaborating closely with multiple centers and faculty, and establishing a centralized process for project intake, agreements, and stakeholder reporting. The Director works to ensure that students gain robust, real-world experiences and that corporate partners see measurable value in engaging with the school.
Salary: $103,700-$120,000; to commensurate with education and experience.
Essential Duties:
Corporate Project Sourcing
- Identify and cultivate partnerships with corporations, nonprofits, and government agencies to secure capstone/applied project opportunities for graduate programs.
- Collaborate with employers, alumni networks, and industry associations to expand project pipelines and develop long-term external relationships.
- Serve as a liaison for corporate partners, ensuring alignment of project scopes with program learning objectives.
Cross-Center Coordination
- Partner with individual centers, institutes, and departments (e.g., Entrepreneurship Center, Information Systems, Supply Chain Management, Marketing) that independently manage industry outreach to coordinate project opportunities.
- Maintain regular communication with center directors and staff to streamline project vetting, reduce overlap, and share best practices across all experiential programs.
Centralized Project Intake & Administration
- Design and implement a standardized intake process for experiential learning projects, including project proposals, scope documents, and timelines.
- Oversee the execution of agreements (e.g., NDAs, non-compete clauses) and ensure compliance with institutional and legal requirements.
- Collaborate with legal counsel, finance, and other internal stakeholders to create and manage contracts, fee structures, and budgets as needed.
Desired Qualifications:
- Education: Master’s degree in Business, Higher Education Administration, or related field.
- Experience: 5 years of experience in corporate relations, partnership management, program management, or higher education administration—preferably with a focus on experiential learning or capstone project oversight.
- Prior experience directing experiential programs in a university or professional education setting.
- Familiarity with multiple industry sectors (e.g., technology, healthcare, finance, nonprofit).
- Strong analytical skills for evaluating project impact and learning outcomes.
Skills & Competencies:
- Proven track record of sourcing, negotiating, and managing corporate partnerships.
- Strong communication and presentation skills for diverse audiences (students, faculty, executives).
- Ability to develop and implement standardized processes and tools.
- Understanding of legal and contractual considerations (NDAs, IP agreements).
- Proficiency in project management software and reporting tools.
Working Environment:
- Primarily an office setting with routine meetings, occasional travel to partner sites, conferences, or networking events.
- Flexible hours may be required to meet deadlines or accommodate partner schedules.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and five (5) years of experience appropriate to the area of assignment/field including two (2) years managerial experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or training from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
