Job Description :
Salary : $85,000 per year; depends on experience
Under general direction, assists faculty and / or other subject matter experts in the design and development of learning materials using multiple instructional technologies and applying best practices in teaching and learning.
Essential Duties :
- In collaboration with faculty and / or other subject matter experts, leads the design and development of engaging, interactive and instructionally sound learning materials, including assessments, in alignment with learning objectives and goals.
- Utilizes and recommends effective and creative uses of technology to enhance instruction including content authoring tools, document creation applications, presentation tools and other technology resources to develop custom products.
- In collaboration with faculty and / or other subject matter experts, in writing learning objectives to incorporate content standards and in curating content in support of objectives.
- Evaluates training needs, designs / redesigns training programs and supplemental materials and implements.
- training programs to meet changing needs and objectives.
- Collaborates with software developers, technologists, project managers, graphic designers and others to produce, review and edit content and to ensure accurate integration of contributions to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of design and development models and processes.
- Assists in leading the evaluation of technology effectiveness; edits, reviews and evaluates course content; provides quality assurance testing for courses; and adapts content and implements recommended changes to improve learning.
- Provides troubleshooting, technology, documentation, event information and educational design consultation support to faculty and subject matter experts.
- Assists in leading the development and maintenance of resources such as tutorials, reference material, design standards, content resources, templates, and tools for instructional development.
- Remains current on, evaluates, identifies and communicates best practices, learning theories, and instructional technologies, and incorporates these into content standards and learning objectives.
- Contributes to custom software design specifications and documentation.
- Reviews and provides critical feedback on the work of junior designers for accuracy, application of appropriate pedagogies; reviews and provides critical feedback on assessments. Assists in developing and disseminating design standards to ensure continuity and that all new or updated materials comply with existing design standards. Aligns standards to identify gaps.
- May supervise and / or mentor junior designers.
- Assumes or coordinates other duties or projects as assigned or directed.

Working Environment :
Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse 75 percent; required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work 10 percent. Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds 15 percent. Evidence of effective communication skills. Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities, which may include or are subject to resolution of conflicts.
Minimum Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree and five (5) years of experience appropriate to the area of assignment / field; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and / or training from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
