Job Description:

The Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law seeks a creative individual who can deliver compelling visual content that help bridge the gap between law and society. The Multimedia Specialist Sr. will lead the development and execution of engaging video, photography and multimedia projects that drive student recruitment, fundraising and support strategic initiatives. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in creative direction, team leadership and innovative content production to enhance audience engagement and institutional impact.


ASU Law is located a state-of-the-art building in downtown Phoenix and is equipped with digital screens and a media mesh that will serve as valuable channels for sharing stories that engage internal and external stakeholders in trending legal topics and potential implications for society.


Essential Duties:

  • Developing and executing content for multimedia campaigns aligned with strategic goals, including video and photography projects for recruitment, admissions, fundraising and promotional efforts.
  • Lead and manage creative teams during high-profile events such as orientation, graduations, and virtual tours, ensuring content quality and impactful storytelling.
  • Oversee digital media operations, including photo release solutions, digital boards and video retention strategies, leveraging partnerships across departments for efficiency and innovation.
  • Analyze and optimize content performance, driving increased engagement on platforms like YouTube and integrating student feedback to refine multimedia outputs.
  • Recording material for production using video camera equipment; making technical decisions regarding elements such as appropriate lighting and shooting angles.
  • Producing engaging visual images (photography) and news stories under tight deadlines, as well as more comprehensive feature stories with longer lead times.
  • Initiating contact and building relationships with experts as well as others who can add valuable commentary.
  • Incorporating multimedia text, graphics, sound, animation and video to enhance user interest and engagement.
  • Editing and assembling final visual/audio material; ensuring consistency and relevancy to production; monitoring the technical quality of end product; fact-checking captions to enhance storytelling.
  • Integrating with other Marketing & Communications team members to provide the most comprehensive and creative coverage of the college, extending stories across multiple media (e.g. website, social), and ensuring brand consistency across all ASU Law channels.
  • Working with IT to smoothly land content on digital screens and media mesh.
  • General standard hours are 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, Monday- Friday. This position may require some flexibility for evening and weekend event coverage.
  • Physical presence at the workplace is an essential function or requirement of this job.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the goals of the department.


Desired Qualifications:

  • Experienced, strategic storyteller with demonstrated skills in visualizing and shooting concepts effectively.
  • Experience in communications, photojournalism, or digital media.
  • Established strong writing and editing skills.
  • Experience in determining what is newsworthy.
  • Proven knowledge of modern video field production techniques and standards.
  • Demonstrated intermediate to advanced video editing skills using Adobe Premiere Pro and beginner/intermediate After Effects.
  • Demonstrated basic graphic skills using Adobe lnDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop.
  • Displayed ability to take professional, editorial and marketing quality photos and gather other images to enhance storytelling effect.


Working Environment:

  • Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding, and manipulating a computer mouse (75%); required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work (10%)
  • Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds (15%) Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts.
  • Evidence of effective communication
  • Regular use of standard office equipment including, but not limited to: DSLR cameras, computer workstation/laptop (keyboard, monitor, mouse), printer, copier, telephone and associated computer/technology peripherals.
  • General standard hours are 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, Monday - Friday. This position may require some flexibility for evening and weekend event coverage


Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree and three (3) years of experience appropriate to the area of assignment/field; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or training from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
