Job Description:
The hourly rate is $20.50 per hour.
The Parking Enforcement Officer plays a critical role in supporting Arizona State University’s commitment to sustainability and efficient campus access by enforcing parking regulations, ensuring the safety of parking facilities, and assisting the university community. This position ensures compliance with university parking policies and provides excellent customer service to students, employees, and visitors. Schedule is 9:30am – 6:00pm.
Essential Duties:
Patrol assigned parking areas to identify and address violations of university parking regulations.
Write and issue citations or warnings for vehicles and bicycles in violation of parking policies.
Investigate and address lost, stolen, or counterfeit permits, applying necessary enforcement actions.
Maintain detailed records, including daily logs of citations and enforcement actions, and submit them to the supervisor at the end of each shift.
Identify and report damaged or malfunctioning equipment or property to the parking services office via two-way radio.
Check vehicle listings for boot or tow eligibility and apply enforcement actions as needed, including booting or arranging for towing.
Assist motorists with common vehicle issues, such as jump-starting batteries, unlocking cars, or providing directions.
Collaborate with university police during emergencies by directing traffic, conducting building checks, or assisting in other tasks as required.
Provide excellent customer service by giving directions or responding to questions from students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
Perform routine vehicle maintenance, such as monitoring fuel and oil levels and reporting issues to supervisors.
Enforce special parking restrictions, direct vehicles to proper parking areas, and assist with parking fee collection during events.
Support sustainable practices by promoting and enforcing regulations that encourage eco-friendly transportation options.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
Knowledge of parking enforcement objectives and general law enforcement practices.
Familiarity with university parking policies and procedures.
Ability to communicate courteously, tactfully, and effectively with the public.
Proficiency in following verbal and written instructions and preparing clear and concise reports.
Skill in using parking enforcement tools and equipment.
Desired Qualifications:
Experience in parking enforcement or traffic control in a university or similar setting.
Knowledge of sustainability principles and practices, with a commitment to promoting eco-friendly solutions.
Previous experience using parking enforcement tools or technology, such as citation devices or license plate recognition systems.
Working Environment:
Work is performed outdoors in varying weather conditions, including extreme heat or cold.
Physical activities include standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 25 pounds.
Exposure to a fast-paced environment that requires adaptability to changing priorities.
Regular use of a two-way radio for communication and enforcement actions.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma and three years (3) experience appropriate to the area of assignment/field; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or training from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
