Job Description :

The Department of Psychology seeks a talented candidate to join our dynamic Research Advancement Team as a Post-Award Research Advancement Administrator (RAA). This team member will join us in supporting and facilitating sponsored projects / grant management for our faculty, research staff, and students. We are a collaborative team of highly productive and creative individuals seeking a similar person to support and manage our research enterprise.

The position is responsible for post-award accounting, financial transactions, and grant management duties. Post-award RAA duties include staying informed on and understanding sponsor and University policies and procedures and using that knowledge to make decisions on process and action; communicating policy and procedures to our faculty, staff, and students; assisting with preparing and submitting required reporting internally and externally to sponsors; processing internal and external award management requests, such as at-risk accounts, no-cost extensions, re-budgeting of funds, and sponsor approval requests; wage and salary budgeting and approvals; and account reconciliation and forecasting. Financial transaction management duties include using our ASU Workday financial system, purchase order preparation, invoice / bill payment, spend authorizations, consultant and vendor contracting, reviewing and approving purchasing cards and travel expenses, and other transaction types as needed.

Salary Range : $58,656 - $63,000 per year : DOE

Essential Duties :

  • Manages awarded sponsored projects in accordance with University and sponsor regulations.
  • Works to ensure audit compliance of unit's sponsored projects to federal, state, sponsor, University, and ABOR policies.
  • Works directly with our faculty, staff, and students to support the needs of their sponsored projects. This includes 1 : 1 interactions, meetings, and frequent detailed communications regarding the status of financial processes, account balances, modifications to awards, reporting due dates, and other items as needed.
  • Provides researchers with technical advice related to sponsored projects, including reviewing sponsor terms and conditions, providing problem-solving assistance, and interpreting policy.
  • Assists researchers with post-award management duties, which include mandatory technical and financial reporting to sponsors, project account reconciliation and expense forecasting, and processing of award changes, such as at-risk requests, no-cost extensions, budget of funds, and sponsor prior approval requests.
  • Assists researchers with financial transaction management duties, which include working with unit staff on processing reimbursement payments, purchase order preparation and invoice processing, and reviewing and approving purchasing card expenses, travel requests, and expense reports.
  • Participates in unit staff meetings and other activities related to Research Advancement administration.
  • May work on special projects as directed by the unit's Research Advancement Manager.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Desired Qualifications :

  • Demonstrated knowledge of and understanding of how and where to find and reference policies, procedures, and requirements of applicable regulations governing the management of university / organizational funds, grants, and contracts.
  • Demonstrated experience in problem-solving, critical thinking, and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated accountancy experience and understanding as well as advanced use of Excel
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple tasks while producing accurate output; demonstrated evidence of meeting deadlines for multiple projects.
  • Experience in budget development and expense forecasting practices.
  • Demonstrated experience in financial expense management functions and practices, including proficient use of Excel.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of ASU systems (or comparative systems), such as Workday, My ASU TRIP travel system, ASU Reporting Analytics, Peoplesoft, and ORSPA Enterprise Research Administration System.
  • Experience working both independently and as a team member, and in working collaboratively across units.
  • Evidence of effective communication skills.
  • Working Environment :

    Activities are primarily performed in a regular, climate-controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting. Visual acuity and manual dexterity associated with daily use of desktop computer; bending, stooping, reaching and lifting up to 20 pounds. Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential duties. Ability to work both independently or within a complex structured team. Works from general instructions on standard job duties and specific directions / instructions on new assignments. Exercises judgment within defined procedures & practices to determine appropriate action.

    Arizona State University offers flexible work schedules and arrangements, including alternative schedules and remote work, that are reviewed and approved per University guidelines. Hybrid remote-work schedules are negotiable.

    Minimum Qualifications :

    Bachelor's degree and five (5) years of experience appropriate to the area of assignment / field; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and / or training from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
