We are seeking a motivated, self-directed Software Engineer specializing in DevOps to contribute to our high-performing Solutions Engineering team. Every day you'll make a difference in the lives of others by supporting other engineers in their mission to deliver highly available and reliable services to the University. You will assist in managing and coordinating AWS cloud infrastructure, including IAM policies and permissions, and managing DevOps processes, including building, testing and deployment of pipelines.
The Solutions Engineering team is responsible for creating solutions and enhancing our current technology stack for a variety of learners' challenges as part of an innovative environment refining how users engage with higher education. Working collaboratively in diverse teams, we create forward-thinking and thoughtful experiences, ensuring that web products support ASU's and Ed Plus's overall strategy and goals.

NOTE: This is not a fully remote position. Must be able to reliably commute to Scottsdale AZ.

Essential Duties:
- Implements and manages CI/CD pipelines.
- Assists in the management and coordination of AWS cloud infrastructure.
- Creates and manages AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM) policies and permissions following the principle of least privilege.
- Designs, develops and supports high quality technology services.
- Attends technical discussions with team members to understand product scope.
- Maintains technical currency and takes advantage of professional development opportunities.
- Guides effective documentation and communication of engineering processes to EdPlus engineers, student engineers and contractors.
- Works on a collaborative, fast-paced team and with other experts across other disciplines.
- Adheres to software development lifecycle principles and standard methodologies.
- Contributes to the larger IT community across the University.
- Assumes or coordinates other duties or projects as assigned or directed.

Desired Qualifications (See below for Minimum Qualifications):
- Evidence of a bachelor's degree or higher in a related field.
- Demonstrated strong knowledge of Git-based repositories (Bitbucket and/or Github).
- Demonstrated strong knowledge of RESTful web services, API design, microservice architecture, HTTP protocol, Javascript, JSON and NodeJS.
- Demonstrated experience with building decoupled, secure, resilient, serverless applications using cloud native technologies (AWS preferred, Google Cloud Platform also considered -e.g., API Gateway, Lambda, Serverless Framework).
- Demonstrated strong knowledge of Databases, transactional processing and data persistence tooling (e.g., SQL, DynamoDB, AWS Aurora, S3).
- Demonstrated knowledge of federated authentication and authorization models, including cloud security and access policies.
- Demonstrated experience in DevOps processes, including building, testing and deployment pipelines.
- Demonstrated experience with cloud methodologies, including automation, orchestration and related tooling.
- Demonstrated experience with Agile/Iterative software development lifecycle, including version control, issue and project tracking.
- Evidence of AWS certifications is desirable.
- Demonstrated experience leveraging infrastructure-as-code to provision cloud infrastructure is desirable.
- Evidence of excellent communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate with cross-functional teams about various engineering topics and build positive working relationships with them.
- Demonstrated ability to complete projects with minimal supervision and direction.
