The Position: Our organization is searching for nutrition research assistant to join our research team. We are looking for an individual to prepare data collection and assist investigators with development and execution of nutrition research. The pay range for the position is $18.00 to $25.00 per hour. This is an intermittent 6 month term, grant funded position, and is contingent on available funding. This position is onsite and reports to the Phoenix VA Medical Center.
Preferred Qualifications & Skills:
- Knowledge of basic biology, biochemistry, cell biology, statistics, or chemistry.
- Knowledge of and skill in applying the concepts, principles, practices, and methodologies of related scientific, mathematical, and/or biological disciplines, as well as knowledge of relevant federal, state, and local regulations for conducting research.
- Ability to work and thrive in a team environment and possess a positive attitude
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written), including knowledge of MS Office
- Must possess the ability to deal diplomatically with various stakeholders (Research Administration, Oversight Committees, PIs, and research staff) in a courteous, tactful, and respectful manner.
- Good problem-solving, basic math, and quantitative and analytical skills
- Able to critically review information and understand instructions and new concepts with minimal assistance
- Able to independently perform recurring, well-precedented projects using standard experimental methods and techniques.
- Must be able to assist with identifying and resolving problems. and participate in the preparation of routine reports and presentations.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work independently with minimal supervision
- Focused and well-organized with attention to detail and outstanding organization skills
- Bachelor's degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment; OR, four years research experience appropriate to the area of assignment; OR, any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved
Responsibilities:
- Perform data entry for biomedical and clinical experiments, data analysis for biomedical, or clinical research
- Assist with development of research protocols.
- Maintain research records, project documents and other task defined the project protocol.
- Project management such as ordering supplies, maintaining inventories and service and usage logs for scientific instrumentation
- Attend and participate in research group meetings, brainstorming sessions and relevant workshops and presentations.
- Prepare figures and methods sections for research presentations and scientific journal articles.

Laboratory offices are situated in the beautiful Biomedical Sciences Partnership Building in downtown Phoenix in the middle of the University of Arizona/Arizona State University/Veterans Affairs academic triangle.
