FIELD SERVICE TECHNICIAN II
JOB SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Division Manager and Operations Superintendent, the Field Service Technician ("FST") II must demonstrate a proficiency in communicating with the general public, Company employees, supervisors, and others. The FST II must demonstrate the ability to prepare clear, concise, and complete written reports, map postings, meter reading route maps, ACC postings, daily reports, and CAGRD records. The FST II must understand and communicate information related to customer service, maintain proper conduct, and present a positive image of the Company. The FST II must be able to lead and train the FST I employees in meter reading and proper customer service work. The FST II must also be able to lead and train the Utility Worker I and II employees in changing meters properly. Currently, only Pinal Valley, Apache Junction and Sedona systems have an FST II position.
JOB DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
In addition to the duties of a FST II, the employee will be responsible for a variety of tasks and duties, which may include, but would not be limited to the following:
- Trains the FST I to complete work according to established meter reading procedures.
- Assists supervisors with scheduling meter reading routes, work schedules, and in setting up and modifying meter reading routes.
- Maintains ACC and customer records and maps, CAGRD records, folio records and maps.
- Assists supervisors with coordinating and scheduling FST I to perform daily service orders, including, but not limited to, connecting and disconnecting water service, delivering courtesy and other customer notices and investigating high bill complaints.
- Performs other duties assigned by supervisor.
- No more than one FST II may be assigned to this position within each Division listed above.
Qualifications
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Skills, knowledge, and physical requirements include but are not limited to:
- Must be knowledgeable about the procedures for the operation of the hand-held meter reading device and personal computer and have a good understanding of customer service procedures as they relate to the described job duties.
- Must be self-motivated, demonstrate leadership skills, and be able to successfully and timely complete all paperwork related to meter reading.
- Must be team oriented and able to work effectively with other Company employees and supervisors.
- Must be able to effectively train FST I 's in all aspects of their assigned duties.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
In addition to the minimum education required of a FST I, must have been employed by the Company as a FST I for a minimum of three years, and have demonstrated competent and efficient performance during such time.
PROFESSIONAL OR OTHER CERTIFICATION OR LICENSING
- Must have a valid, appropriate Arizona driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Must possess a valid Arizona Department of Environmental Quality Grade 2 or higher Water Distribution System Operator Certification.

- Hand-held meter reading device
- Company vehicle
- Personal computer
- Hand tools and other equipment related to the duties of meter reading, mapping and record keeping.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must possess manual dexterity sufficient to utilize handheld meter reading device.
- Must be able to learn operation of personal computer in order to download meter reads from handheld meter reading device and to print written reports associated with meter reading.
- Must be physically able to perform work that requires walking, bending, kneeling, digging, and lifting items of at least seventy-five (75) pounds in weight.
- Must be able to work outside in all types of weather.
