WATER TREATMENT OPERATOR 2
JOB SUMMARY
Under the direction of system management personnel, Water Treatment Operator 4, and Water Treatment Operator 3, the Water Treatment Operator 2 is responsible for the maintenance and operation of all production, treatment, storage and recharge facilities.
JOB DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Responsible for a variety of tasks and duties which may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Day-to-day operation and maintenance of all water production, treatment, storage and recharge facilities as applicable.
- Troubleshoot and repair problems related to pumping equipment, controls and water treatment facilities.
Collect compliance, process control, and other necessary water samples related to water distribution system and water production and treatment facilities.
- Must be available to respond to water production and treatment emergencies.
- Perform duties of Water Treatment Operator 1 and Serviceman or Servicewoman.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Skills, knowledge and physical requirements include, but are not limited to:
- Knowledge of, and training on, all types of water production and treatment facilities, with an emphasis on arsenic and nitrate removal facilities.
- Knowledge of safety requirements related to electrical equipment, water treatment chemicals, chemical feed pumps, hazardous materials, and all types of waste related to water production and treatment.
- Ability to use Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) equipment; personal computers, water quality field test kits, pressure gauges, transducers, calibration equipment, Company vehicles, hand tools, welders, backhoes, air compressors and other equipment necessary in the operation and maintenance of a water distribution and water treatment system.
- Knowledge of and compliance with Arizona Department of Environmental Quality ("ADEQ") standards and procedures.
- Must have good communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment with other Company employees.
- Ability to assist in training other employees assigned to water production and treatment.
- Must present a positive image of the company and be successful in promoting a team effort among all employees engaged in water production and treatment.
- Ability to physically perform work that requires walking, bending, kneeling, digging, lifting and climbing.
- Ability to lift 100 lbs to waist level and maneuver equipment and implements weighing in excess of 150 lbs.
- Must be able to work outside in all types of weather.
- Must be able to comply with all personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements related to the position.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE
The following are required:
- High school diploma or equivalent GED.
- Successful demonstration of the required skill level related to water production and treatment facilities as determined by system management personnel.
- Six months experience performing the duties of a Production and Treatment Operator 1 or similar experience.
- Valid Arizona driver's license and acceptable driving record.
- Valid ADEQ Grade 1 or higher Water Distribution Operator Certification and valid ADEQ Grade 2 or higher Water Treatment Operator Certification.
