POSITION TITLE: Survivor (.75FTE) and Street Outreach (.25FTE) Support Specialist
SUPERVISED BY: Senior Program Manager- Youth Wellness Division
LOCATION: Lake Havasu City
SALARY: Full-Time $19/hour
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Survivor Support Specialist will provide essential assistance to survivors of domestic violence, ensuring they receive the support and resources needed during their journey through the legal system. This role will involve attending court hearings with survivors, providing emotional support, and supporting survivors in communication between survivors, prosecutors, and victim services to ensure their needs are met. The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable about the legal process, especially regarding court hearings and orders of protection, and will offer empathetic support, and pass along accurate, and timely information to those they assist without providing legal assistance and/or guidance.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Attend court hearings with survivors to offer emotional support and guidance during proceedings.
- Provide accurate, up-to-date information on legal processes, especially during hearings involving orders of protection, but will not offer legal counsel or guidance.
- Serve as a liaison between survivors, court advocates, and the legal team and ensure survivors are aware of communication, including phone calls with prosecutors and victim services.
- Support the filing of order of protection with survivors, training to be provided.
- Implement the Danger Assessment with survivors (to be trained).
- Provide Crisis Kits which meet the survivors’ immediate needs, including feminine hygiene products, diapers, undergarments, clothing, and toiletries.
- Connect survivors with critical resources such as utility assistance, housing, and other forms of advocacy in Bullhead City, Lake Havasu City, and Kingman, AZ
- Attend and provide support during hearings filed after the initial court hearing where victim advocates may not be present.
- Meet with victim advocates and collaborate to enhance support services, ensuring all parties are informed of available resources and services.
- Support the needs and requests of victim advocate staff to best support the survivor.
- Sit with survivors in courtrooms or other settings, offering support during hearings.
- Connect survivors to advocacy groups to learn about their rights, available services, and legal options to empower them in making informed decisions, and offer support.
- Maintain accurate case records and collaborate with the legal and advocacy teams to monitor the status of ongoing cases. Attend meetings as required by funders.
- Use Positive Youth Development and Trauma-Informed Approaches to create person-centered resource referrals to youth and vulnerable populations.
- Attend community fairs to promote awareness of agency programs and interact with youth to build trust in our services.
- Assist in drop-in center to provide resources, information and referrals
- Attend AZYP staff meetings, fundraisers, and relevant committee meetings assigned.
- Other duties as assigned/requested.
- Note: This position does not provide legal counsel or legal guidance to survivors.
Qualifications
- Experience in victim support, domestic violence services, or related social services fields.
- Knowledge of the legal system, particularly around domestic violence and orders of protection.
- Ability to communicate clearly and empathetically with survivors in distress.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple services and resources.
- Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information.
- Experience working with diverse populations and understanding cultural sensitivity.
- Ability to handle crisis situations with professionalism and composure.
- A high level of empathy, patience, and commitment to supporting survivors of domestic violence.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in crisis intervention, trauma-informed care, or case management.
- Familiarity with local resources and service providers for survivors of domestic violence.
- Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills to work with multidisciplinary teams.
- Position will require travel to courtrooms and AZYP offices in Mohave County
- Flexible hours may be necessary, including evenings or weekends, to accommodate court schedules and crisis response.
- Excellent presentation, oral, written communication skills; knowledge of Word, Excel, Publisher, Power Point

REQUIREMENTS
- Finger printing and Background Check; CPR/First Aid Certification.
- AZ Driver’s License, reliable transportation, and ability to travel countywide and statewide.
- Automobile Insurance in the amount of $100,000/$300,000
- Some evening and weekend hours as needed.
