The Project Surveyor position is responsible for managing survey field crews, managing drafting staff, performing research and calculations, and producing survey work products in support of Ark’s many client projects. The Project Surveyor should be meticulous and efficient, keeping excellent notes, ensuring organized data files, and maintaining clear communication with staff in the office and field to deliver projects on time and on budget.
What You’ll Do:
- Manage and coordinate survey projects including boundary, topographic, and ALTA surveys, as well as construction staking projects.
- Review field data and provide guidance to crews to ensure accurate, efficient, and complete data collection.
- Work closely with CAD technicians to ensure survey deliverables are accurate and timely.
- Communicate professionally with clients, project managers, team members, and other stakeholders.
- Ensure all survey deliverables meet project specifications, applicable laws, and standards of practice.
- Lead, manage, hold accountable, train, and mentor junior staff.
Basic Qualifications:
- Professional Land Surveyor license
- 5 years of progressive land surveying experience
- Comprehensive understanding of field procedures and office processes
- Familiar with general survey CAD workflows
- Punctuality and dependability
- Solid communication and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects at once and keep up with deadlines
- Valid North Carolina drivers’ license
- Successful completion of a background check and drug screening
Ideal Qualifications:
- Experience managing survey work as part of larger civil engineering, transportation, utility, and development projects
- 5 years experience as a licensed professional in responsible charge of survey projects
- Proficiency with Carlson Survey and Autodesk Civil 3D
