Description :
The Sr Network Tools Engineer is the subject matter expert in designing and implementing the Network Tools strategy for the next-gen operations for all networks including the Property Networks, Datacenter / Cloud Networks, and Corporate Networks. This role will work closely and collaboratively with a matrix team of expert network architects and engineers to drive adoption of Network tools practices and operating models across all network product towers, and around globe. The Sr Network Tool Engineer, Network DevOps / SRE team brings a strong perspective that inspires change and motivates engineers to develop simple solutions to complex problems, driving the engineering and operations for network software development, automation, provisioning, performance management and tools / APIs for self-service across the globe. This role is accountable for establishing technical level relationships and partnering with all business disciplines, other MI teams, outsourcing vendors, and external suppliers to define and implement the Network DevOps / SRE roadmap, building and enforcing the standards defined in it. This position will also serve as lead to define and support service delivery and operational support standards for our Next Generation Operations, partnering with the global technology peer teams to meet service level requirements and resolve service delivery issues across the portfolio. Reporting to the Senior Director of Global Network DevOps / SRE, this key position is accountable to ensure overall requirements by customers and peer delivery and operations groups are met. Accountabilities include, but are not limited to : continental IT executives, property LAN service providers (LSPs), end-user computing services delivery, hosting services, enterprise availability, server, storage, virtualization, inclusive of security / privacy, risk management, and disaster and crisis management. Will develop and execute new initiatives to simplify, standardize, optimize, and automate the network designs, tooling, and operations to reduce implementation cycle times, eliminate service downtime, optimize performance, and ensure that all security and compliance requirements are fully governed
Day-to-day Responsibilities :
- As an individual contributor or member of a project team support successful project and change implementations
- Provides time critical technical leadership, oversight, governance and tactical direction for Network services related to solution delivery
- Provides technical input to the overall department architecture and operational governance models
- Conducts research and reviews the design / implementation of Network infrastructure components to validate standards and SLA compliance
- Make contributions to the introduction of Network solutions that enhance the operations and cost structures of the environment
- Create and make available project documentation with a focus on communicating technical features and functions of solutions
- Participates in the evaluation and selection of Network infrastructure services products
- Works closely with department leadership and service providers to support alignment of plans with solution delivery
- Supports audit responses and governance based on standards ensuring proper alignment on projects and major initiatives
- Leads analysis of the current environment to detect critical deficiencies and recommends solutions for improvement
- Leads analysis of reported outage events to determine potential impact on the in-place network infrastructure & architecture
- Utilizes capacity modeling and data to align systems state and future planning with department strategy and goals
- Informs project teams of necessary modifications and costs of Network infrastructure services to accommodate goals
- Consults with Service provider teams to identify when it is necessary to modify the technical elements to accommodate infrastructure needs
- Oversees and produces configuration documentation of task level Network engineering specifications, diagrams and configurations
- Participates in and suggests improvements to standards configuration, change management processes and practices
- Develop test plans, implementation plans, and project timelines for various projects and tasks
- Take a leadership role on network infrastructure projects to configure routing and switching elements including designing and troubleshooting
Minimum Qualifications Required :
Bachelor degree in Computer Science or related technical field experience / certification7 years of experience as a Network Engineer with 5 or greater years in a hands-on role that implements engineeringstandards, documenting engineering designs, and participating in project cutovers.Strong Hands-on Knowledge in NPM tools like CA NetOps (Spectrum / CAPC / NFA), Entuity, LogicMonitor, SevOne etc.Strong hands-on knowledge in APM tools like AppNeta, ThousandEyes etcStrong hands-on knowledge in Packet Monitoring tools like NetScout, Riverbed etcStrong knowledge in Splunk alerting and Dashboarding.Knowledge in modern in modern configuration management tools (NetMRI, Ansible, Chef, Fabric, etc.)Knowledge in PERL or Python to support developing scripts.Experience in tools like Netbrain, servicenow is added advantage.Experience in following Agile practices and methodologies.5 years of experience in an IT infrastructure role that includeImplementation of WAN, LAN, and datacenter networks with a focus on mission-critical, customer-facing applications and servicesTechnical knowledge in networking (Cisco and non-Cisco) with an emphasis on software-defined networks (SDN) and leveraging spine & leaf designs, load balancing, firewalls, security design (intrusion detection and prevention), DNS, NTP, Network Tools & ManagementTechnical knowledge common routing protocols (e.g., OSPF, BGP), IPv6, VPN, etc.Hands-on experience with common routing and switching platforms (Cisco, Juniper, Client / Aruba etc.)Experience with automating network functions through tools such as Chef, Puppet, Ansible, or TerraformExperience with writing Python applications to support network automationUnderstanding of legacy networking routing protocols and the interaction with cloud interconnectsExperience with network load balancers, WAN optimizers, and Network virtualization.Technical knowledge and experience with telco and ISP networks, ensuring diversity and managing availabilityDemonstrated experience in delivering written documents detailing network solutions and diagrams3 years of experience with high availability planning, component redundancy design and implementation2 years of experience in designing large-scale enterprise network interconnectivity with cloud providers using standard best practicesAbility to work non-standard hours during change implementationsPreferred Qualifications :
